Jisung and Minho lay in the older boys bed that night after school, cuddling and talking about anything and everything.
Jisung was very close to falling asleep until Minho began speaking.
"You know I love you right?"
The younger eyes sprung open at the sound of his voice and turned to him as he rested his chubby cheek on his shoulder.
"Of course I know," he said softly.
"Good,"
"Why do you always ask that?" Jisung asked, now wide awake.
"I just have to make sure you know"
"But I do know.. I don't ever question it,"
Minho hummed and pulled the messy blankets over them and adjusted their position to where it was more comfortable. Jisung felt good until he heard the rustling beneath the blanket and felt Minho smile against his hair.
"Don't." The younger warned
"It's so cute-"
"I already said stop," jisung pushed away from Minho and sat on his knees looking at the confused boy in front of him.
"Sung, what's wrong?" Minho sat up as well looking at his boyfriend.
"Nothings wrong just stop,"
"There is, I can tell" the moment he went to reach for the youngers hand it was pushed away and the distance between them increased a small bit.
Minho couldn't help the sting that pierced his heart in that moment. Jisung had never denied him or pushed him away for anything, so why now. What did he do wrong?
"Please just leave me alone," jisung stood and got off the bed, beginning to walk towards the door.
"Ji, where are you going?" Minho got up from the bed and met him at the door in four quick strides, not letting him through.
"Let's talk about it. Leaving here all angry will just make you wake up feeling guilty tomorrow"
Minho wasn't angry with jisung at all. In fact he was just more concerned as to why he had the sudden mood change when they'd been happy moments ago.
"Minho, I said stop now leave me alone!" Jisungs voice was slightly raised, making the older take a step back in surprise.
Jisung went out the bedroom door and into the living room as Minho followed.
"Why are you walking out?" Minho raised his voice slightly as well.
"Because!" Was jisungs argument.
"Because why?"
"Because I don't want you to keep trying to force me into doing things! I don't want to fucking talk about it okay? Is that so hard to understand?"
"I'm trying to help you, not force you! Don't twist my words or actions towards you!" Minho yelled back
"I'm not twisting them!" Jisung turned toward the brunette with an angry look "can't you just understand when no means no?"
"I do understand but when you sit there and walk all over yourself and call yourself fat and ugly it gets to me. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I just sat there and said nothing while you said all that shit about yourself. I'm trying to help you-"
"I don't need help! I need space!" Jisung didn't mean that at all, the words just slipping last his lips in the heat of the moment.
Minho faltered, looking at the boy in front of him in disbelief.
"Fine, if that's what you need then I'll drive you home and then well be over until your ready to be together again,"
Jisungs tried speaking but it just came out as a small squeak and nothing else. His mind was racing, asking himself if he'd just fucked everything up.
"Over?" He finally got out after a few moments
"Yes, over. Until you figure out what you want and what you need because I don't want it to seem like I'm still forcing you to be with me. If you can find your ultimate happiness without me then I can live with that as long as you're happy,"
The truth was, they were both shattering in that moment, just seconds away from crying and having a break down.
"You're- min- I don't want to break up," jisungs voice wavered as he looked down at his feet and back up at his boyfriend.
"Neither do I but if that's what I have to do to keep you happy then that's what I have to do. You said you wanted space so I'm giving you the freedom to have it,"
Jisung walked forwards to Minho and shook his head.
"I don't want space.."
"Jisung, look at me" the younger knew it was serious because Minho rarely used his name.
Once the brown eyes met Minhos, he began talking.
"What's going on, hm? Why are you acting this way?" His sweet tone almost made the younger break.
It took a few moments for him to find his voice again after the way Minho spoke to him. It was so soft and honey like, making him feel that familiar warmth in his body.
"What if I lose jeongin?" He said in just a mere whisper
"Why would you lose jeongin? He's your best friend,"
"Changbin, your friend I guess, came to school today and jeongin jumped up and invited him to sit with us and he walked him to class and I'm just intimidated by him.. He seems so much cooler than me and so much more confident. Why wouldn't jeongin want that as a best friend and not this?" Jisung motioned down at his body and just himself in general.
"If anything, changbin isn't anything to be insecure about. He a druggie, a smoker and is drunk off his ass at least three times a week. You are jisung, amazing and hard working and beautiful. Don't be insecure.."
"It's hard when that's what I'm compared to," jisung said softly
"I can promise you that jeongin was just being nice because he's met changbin before. He's not going to trade you for him," Minho said very genuinely.
"I'm just scared, min"
"There is nothing to be scared about, ji. Jeongin wouldn't ever let you go and if he tried, I'll kick his ass myself,"
"You promise?"
"Well I can't promise that I'd beat up a baby but-"
"Not about that!" Jisung laughed a bit, Minho glad to see his smile back.
"Of course I promise.. I wouldn't lie to you,"
Jisung only thought of one thing when he heard those words. The bet.
That was how most of his insecurities began but he'd never tell Minho that.
