"Hello, is this Chris Bang?" A females voice from the other side of the line rang out in the kitchen where Chan stood.
It was three days after jeongin and Chan made waffles but the younger was still at his house. He was currently sitting in the living room watching some sunday morning cartoon, skipping church to be with Chan.
"Yes, this is him."
"This is Lara from the wayside cafe, I was wondering if you'd like to come in for a small orientation? Nothing big just to show you around the store and give you some papers."
Chan looked over, having a clear look at jeongin who was dozing off on the couch. His eyes would shut and spring back open with a jolt a few moments later. His eyes closed for a few more moments this time staying closed. The remote to the television fell out of his hand making him jump awake again.
"I'm kind of with my- uh, boyfriend at the moment." The lie that made his heart race crazily escaped his lips
"It will only take about twenty minutes, sir. He can even come with you if you need him to." Lara said, trying to persuade him to come to the cafe.
Chan glanced over at the now sleeping boy on the couch and back to his phone.
"I'll be there in thirty minutes," He said finally just making the decision to let jeongin nap while he took care of this.
"Okay, see you then Chris," The line went dead and Chan quickly went to change. His clothes were what he normally wore on an everyday basis: a black graphic tee that was several sizes too big, some ripped jeans and his worn out black vans. It was a moment to say the least.
Jeongin, got a call for the job, be back sooner than you'll even know.
I love you
-Chan
With that, he walked out the door with everything he needed not forgetting to kiss jeongin goodbye on the forehead.
The drive there was quick, Chan speeding to get there as fast as possible wanting to get back to his lazy day with jeongin.
He quickly walked inside the cafe with the red and blue pinstripe seats and the chipped white table tops. It was familiar, Chan coming here with changbin sometimes when he got enough money to.
"Oh! You must be Chris!" A petite young waitress walked out of the kitchen upon hearing the bell go off signallkng a customer.
"Yes that's me, but call me Chan please," They shook hands sharing polite smiles.
Her brown eyes sparkled when she smiled, reminding him faintly of jeongin, her perfectly straight teeth shining when she did. Her slender frame pulling off the uniform very well to where it didn't look much like a uniform and rather everyday clothes.
"Well, Chan we can sit over here and I'll explain a bit of what these papers mean."
They moved over to a booth where she spread out two lengthy papers on the table.
"So I will need you to sign when we are finished, just some legal allegation things that say that we are not reliable for any injuries on the job if the right credentials are provided such as wet floor signs, a latter to grab things off the high shelves etc."
"This next paper is just stating that upon coming to work here, you will be on call at any point during hours of the store if we are short handed. It's policy for every worker, granted you can say no to coming in but we are short staffed here so it would really help if you did-"
Chan watched her as she spoke, he sleek brown hair pulled tightly into a pony tail, exposing her collar bones that were perfectly tanned. She looked pretty in the light of the dining area, her skin just flawless.
She looked like his sister and in a faint way it broke his heart a bit.
"... So even though I have your number on file in my phone, can you write it down here and sign on these two lines down here if you agree to them."
Chan picked up the pen scribbling down the ten digit phone number and signing in the correct spots.
"Okay, now I'll show you around so you can get back to your boyfriend. I'm sure he's getting impatient.."
"He's actually napping at home, he normally sleeps for a long time so I doubt he'll wake up until I get there."
Which wasn't true.
Jeongin had woken up calling out for Chan.
"Channie, can you get me some water?" He called through the house sleepily. He was parched since the way he slept it had been with his mouth open.
"Hyung!" He yelled again kind of moody and kicked his legs on the couch. The house was quiet other than the water heater faintly humming in the distance.
Jeongin whined loudly as he sat up, angry that Chan was ignoring him. Moving to give him a piece of his mind his eyes caught sight of the note.
Reading over it, he sighed. Chan left while he was asleep probably just want in him to sleep. It was sweet...
He smiled a bit at the I love you part and set it down, flipping it over and grabbing the pen. Jeongins loopy hand writing made it's way across the page
I'm awake loser. Call me later and I'll come back over if you want. Or you can sneak through my window and surprise me...
I love you too, channie <3
Love, Jeongin
Jeongin set the pen down, going to grab his phone from the bedroom where it had been plugged in all morning. The boy just left in what he woke up in, a big white T-shirt and some red and black basketball shorts that were huge on his slender thighs.
He made his way down the street and to his home immediately going up to his music room to play Canon in D minor, a song that was theirs and froze.
His piano was gone.
