WELCOME TO GOD KILLERS! ( or, how the boy killed god )
HE WAKES UP ON A COLD WINTERS DAY TO HEAR THAT JASPER HARKNESS IS DEAD — lying face down in the snow with no suspects. he hears this being whispered amongst worried students as he eats his breakfast in the great hall, the blood under his nails is dry and dirtied, staining his pale hands and mind a deep ugly red.
In front of him sits Tom Riddle, a grin plastered to his face, a tilt of his head as if asking him why he killed the poor boy. he didnt mean to kill him, not really - well, he did slam the rock into the back of Jasper Harkness' head for a reason but not the reason you think! hes not a vile person, it's because of him. .
It hadn't always been the case, there was once a time in Augustine august Lawrence's life where Tom Riddle hadn't been at the forefront of his mind, like an obsession rotting away the good parts of his mind turning everything to mush, turning him into a sheep ready to do the boys every bidding.
It all started when he had moved to hogwarts away from beaubaxtons. After a failed attempt at necromancy he was kicked out (long story, and quite frankly he doesn't have the time, nor the patience) so his worrying parents decided to ship him off to England to avoid the embarrassment.
He didnt particularly mind, beaubaxtons was always dull and lifeless (no pun intended)
he knows he knows, totally insane of him, but if your parents, english might he add, send you away to the middle of nowhere (france is pretty much nowhere august thinks) and leaves you there to learn a whole other language even though there is a perfectly good wizarding school in England, how would you turn out?
so, here he was, starting a brand new school and murder just had to follow him, like some shadow gripping to his sides, suffocating and cold. Rather like the hand of his father when disappointment was evident upon his soft features, like moments after he told him of his expulsion.
then he meets them— the knights of walpurgis, a group of tightly knit boys with a mysterious leader, like, yeah sure the other boys were exciting, Abraxas Malfoy, the boy with a dye problem, Theodore nott with the obvious drinking problem . . but he was something else entirely, something so alluring August thought an angel had fallen to earth, baring the face of a handsome boy.
neat curls, dark eyes and a sharp face, they made up what he found to be Tom Riddle, he scoffed when he first heard his name, riddle? he thought he might've been pureblooded, maybe a lestrange from the hint of malliciousness in his dark eyes as they surveyed the halls besides his followers, or even a Black with the signature dark hair that framed his face.
the boy had taken a liking to him, inviting him to join his group and helping him in classes, but that's when all the trouble started.
he had asked him to help kill students; the most well known, in years to come, being Myrtle Warren, a sad girl desperate for companionship.
merlins beard he wanted to say no, but he just couldn't, his soft words had taken hold of him, like a deadly Venus fly trap, gorgeous but oh so deadly, and he was just a mere fly unfortunate to get trapped.
maybe befriending the half blood was a terrible idea after all, if this is what he gets for being nice to half bloods then he'll never be nice to them again!
he thinks this sourly the night prior as he wipes the blood from his hands, and he thinks, just for a split second what it would be like bashing a rock into Tom Riddles skull. the thought doesnt leave him as he sits in classes the next day, or the next— even after the other murders; Jasper Harkness, young poor Jasper Harkness, with his sad puppy dog eyes, he still remembers the way he clutched his head as the blood pooled out of him.
So, that is what he will do, if death follows him around this much then why doesnt he use it to his advantage and kill the boy before he becomes something worse?
now he just needs people mad enough to help, because one boy cannot kill a God— not on his own.
