CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
I KNIGHT THEE, SIR AUGUSTINE

AUGUSTINE WOKE UP LATE. Already hearing Bunny moving about, his familiar stomp vibrating through the floorboards, he scrunched up his eyes. The sound too loud.

He stayed there for a while, just lying awake. After the death of Jasper, a few days ago, August had been killed as well. He felt it in his heart when Tom whispered those simple words to him; welcome to the Knights, Augustine.

August was no more, risen from the ashes like a phoenix was Augustine.

He stretched his long arms above his head. The blood was still staining his fingernails when he checked, eyeing them quickly before opening the curtains of his bed.

Squinting, he saw the rest of his friends, Reinhardt, mouth agape, still sleeping soundly, Bunny, pacing the room, toothbrush in mouth as he plodded about the room to find his clothes, all he wore so far was a wife beater and underwear.

Then there was Theo with nothing but a towel wrapped around waist, showing off his lean frame as he leaves the shared bathroom. Abraxas sat upright in his bed, counting his sweets, he already has probably had a go at Bunny for stealing them all. A state of mundaneness that made Augustine smile.

Then his eyes landed on Tom.

He was already dressed, a ratty old pair of trainers being slipped on, which Augustine found weird, seeing as Tom radiated power, so why wear such common shoes? Not like Abraxas with his sleek pair of dress shoes that never seem to come off.

He also wore a slytherin scarf, that was wrapped tightly around his neck which he pulled on over his coat, and Augustine felt a sinking feeling, it was the first match of the year. Slytherin against Gryffindor today.

He groaned in sudden realisation earning a laugh from Bunny.

"He rises!" Bunny rejoiced loudly, but his eyes stayed on him more than Augustine liked them to.

They still hadn't talked about what had happened. The kiss.

It hadn't happened again, Augustine had hoped it would, it was foolish of him to think that, seeing as the endgame for him was ready and waiting, with his ratty shoes and curled hair.

Augustine got ready, wearing identical clothing to Bunny and Reinhardt, their Quidditch uniforms, readying themselves for the game, meaning that their morning lessons were frees whilst they practiced for the afternoon.

The three of them headed down to the pitch to meet the rest of the players, leaving the knights to get ready for a morning of history of magic and Herbology, which Augustine was quite happy to miss, he didn't need to see Olive anytime soon.

Augustine had meet most of his team already, seeing as they conversed most of the time in lessons, prodding Bunny on new plays and genuinely being easy to play with; apart from Reinhardt, who hated the game due to his fear of heights. but he still played because Bunny forced him to, and, so that he could bag girls left and right, girls loved a Quidditch player, Augustine found out early on after he was selected as the team's chaser. Girls seemed to be far more interest in the girl killer once he joined the Quidditch team.

As they entered the Slytherin changing rooms, he could already see that the rest of the team were ready, waiting for them.

The other beater, Eros Yaxley— or Ross, as most people called him, bounded his way up towards them, he was a tall boy, taller than the three of them, which isn't exactly hard, seeing as the tallest they got was Augustine, and Augustine wasn't that tall, six foot at best, with Bunny a mere five foot ten, Reinhardt followed him with five foot eight.
