CHAPTER THREE
Famous Bunny Goyle

CAMERAS WERE FLASHING AND ALL AUGUSTINE COULD DO WAS SMILE. Standing besides Bunny as a camera burst in front of their faces, he turned away to catch a glimpse at the reporter standing off to aside.

News had spread pretty quickly that Bunny had been scouted for Puddlemere as well as the canons, however Bunny had already got his heart set on Puddlemere, leading to the Canon's coach Warren Alexis to spew insults about him to the news.

Now, reporters had stopped Bunny in his tracks on their usual outing to Hogsmeade to get answers.

"Is it true you rejected Warren Alexis' offer?" One reporter asked, the one Augustine had been staring down. He was dark skinned with short cropped hair. He looked no older than the pair.

"Yeah? So what? He was a prick anyway as we've found out," Bunny spat out, he chewed on a piece of gum obnoxiously.

Augustine wanted to drag him away before he said anything else he'd probably regret.

"What do you think of your friends decision?" He prodded the question to Augustine, who stared at him, eyebrows furrowed.

"What does it matter what I think? He's the quidditch star, not me." Augustine replied simply, and a little angrily seeing as this was Bunny's new life, and he didn't want to take away the attention.

Another reporter poked her head through the crowd of cameras. "Hi Marie Sanders here," an American, Augustine bit back the urge to roll his eyes.

"What?" He asked titling his head at her unsure on what to say.

Her blonde hair was scraped back into the tightest ponytail Augustine had ever seen, and her green eyes were frighteningly bright.

She looked momentarily shocked at his sudden rudeness, but she regained her cheery attitude. "You're also a play alongside Goyle on the Slytherin team, did you get scouted? Or is Quidditch not the career you had in mind?"

He looked to Bunny, he didn't want to take the attention from him, he saw how Bunny looked; awkward. He'd never not had the attention on him, this was new for him.

"What the fuck is wrong with you? I wasn't-" he was going to say how he wasn't scouted until Bunny butted in quickly.

"He was scouted yes, but turned down the offer in favour of a career in necromancy," he said quickly, giving Augustine a sharp nudge to shut him up.

He turned to him, "what?"

"I'll tell you later," Bunny told him through smiles.

....

"Did you know I'd been scouted?" He'd grumbled the moment he entered the common room, expecting either Theo or Reinhardt to be sitting on their beds.

Instead, Tom looked up. His dark hair had lost its charm, now curling and coiling all over the place in a messy heap of darkness.

"Why on earth would I know?" He asked with an eyebrow raised, slightly mad.

"Sorry, it wasn't meant for you," Augustine quickly said before dragging one hand through his own unruly hair.

Tom shrugged and motioned for him to sit.

Augustine had never been one to disobey him, so he did what he was told. Sitting besides him on Tom's bed, he noticed the diary he'd given Tom for his birthday.

The diary had been used, which caused warmth to enter Augustine's cheeks in embarrassment. He hadn't expected that, he'd expected Tom to put it in a drawer and never look at it again.

He thought back to that week spent with Tom, the nights they slept besides each other, Augustine too scared to move a muscle. He'd changed considerably since then.

Now sitting besides Tom, all he felt was comfort. Weirdly.

"How's the tutoring going?" He asked Tom.

Tom shook his head, "terrible, it's like teaching bunny, but if he was slower, and slightly more annoying,"

He scoffed, thinking of the other boy, "no one is as more annoying than bunny,"

No one could take that title from Bunny, no one. Somehow Bunny knew how to crawl under your skin, and bury himself there. Annoying you at any chance he could get, but he didn't mind it, Augustine realised. It felt almost odd that he wasn't here pestering him now.

There was a certain quietness he experienced with Tom. Something he treasured.

Tom and Bunny were opposites on a coin Augustine played with constantly, flipping it casually in his hand depending on who he deemed more worthy of his attention; sometimes Tom in these quiet moments, sometimes Bunny in the louder ones.

Tom laughed quietly, "so you found out then?" He asked, Augustine knew he meant about quidditch.

"Apparently I was also scouted,"

"Would you have said yes?"

"No,"

"So what's the problem then?"

The problem was that Augustine hadn't decided for himself. Bunny had chosen what was best for him instead of letting Augustine choose.

"Nothing," he said quietly, looking down to his lap.

Tom leaned close, "good, we can't have two famous quidditch players, imagine the egos,"

Augustine smirked, "as if Bunny isn't going to constantly rub it in our faces that he's famous now?"

"We'll have to humble him somehow," Tom joked, but then his expression turned serious, "he'll be so big headed soon, as I'm enlisting his help with something,"

Augustine turned to him, "with what?"

"As you said," Tom spoke eyes focused on Augustine, "I have to start now if I want to rule the wizarding world, this is our beginning."

Augustine wondered what Bunny could possibly do that Augustine couldn't.

"Don't worry," Tom said, seeing Augustine's concern, "you'll help when the time is right,"
