CHAPTER FIVE
GLORY COMES TO THOSE WHO WAITJUNO SAT WAITING FOR AUGUST IN THE GREAT HALL. Her blonde hair tied up tightly as she sat eating her breakfast, August caught her blonde hair before anything else, wondering why she was sitting at the Slytherin table rather than the Ravenclaw table.
"Morning, don't you look happy," she grinned out waggling her brows at him as he approached the table, after finishing a bit of her breakfast, toast with jam.
August scowled back, "just had a lovely talk with Bunny," he ran a hand through his hair to will himself to calm down, Bunny had left him agitated.
Juno smirked, "ah, so you've met Bunny,"
"More like been glued to his arm for the past half hour," he grimaced sitting down opposite her. They sat on the slytherin table, though further down so Tom and his merry gang of weirdos couldn't here August speak about them.
Juno clasped her hands together, leaning close, "he's like that, doesn't know what personal space is I think,"
" he doesn't know much about anything I think," he scoffed looking to where the Knights sat.
Tom was spooning cereal into his mouth reading a book, happy and content. It made August mad in a way. He didn't quite understand why. Maybe it was because he wasn't there, sitting so close, asking about the book in hand.
Unsurprisingly, Bunny was getting his food all over him with Abraxas laughing at him heartily. Reinhardt and Theo were speaking, or arguing over something, August couldn't tell. He'd be able to tell if he just said yes in the first place to Tom.
"Don't stare," Juno snapped causing August to whip his head back towards Juno, "and when were you going to tell me you're the girl killer?"
August faltered a little, "well it hadn't come up in conversation, I wasn't just going to burst out with, oh yeah by the way, I'm the girl killer, was I?" He said sarcastically, digging his fork into his waffle angrily. How had Juno known? Who had told her?
Now it was Juno's time to scowl, it made her look ugly. "Don't kill me at least,"
"I'll try not to," he gave her a tight lipped grin, making her pale, her blue eye standing out against her pale skin.
"Shut up," she warns, "don't joke about it I'm serious,"
"Why would I kill you? There isn't a need,"
"Oh wow," she huffed out, "that makes me feel so much better!"
August threw his hands up in the air, "what else did you want me to say?" He asked angrily staring at her with wide eyes.
"Nothing nothing," she replied dismissively, cutting her hand through the air to signify it. She then huffed and in response, August frowned.
It was harder than he'd expected, making friends.
It seemed so much easier speaking to Tom on the train.
He mentally shook the thought away, returning his gaze across the table to where Tom sat. He had discarded his book, instead speaking to Abraxas, who looked pretty irritated at what they're speaking on.
Then, Abraxas yelled, though August couldn't tell what about, and suddenly, he was up from his seat. Storming off towards the doors.
"Huh," August spoke, "wonder what that was about,"
"Why don't you ask? Seeing as you're so interested in him?" Juno asked snidely giving him a glare.
He rolled his eyes before getting up, "fine, I will,"
He was thankful to get away from Juno. She had a tendency to talk back to him, very angrily, and August hadn't a clue on how to be nice to her.
Making his way over to where the rest of the Knights sit, he gave a glare to Juno from over his shoulder, who stuck her middle finger up at him in response.
As he reached the table, Tom lifted his head up ever so slightly.
"Hello," Tom spoke first, raising a brow in surprise that he'd come over to him.
"Hi," he replied back, "so, that seemed bad," he said awkwardly motioning to the door that Abraxas had just stepped out of.
"Bad? That's an understatement," Bunny snorted through a mouthful of food, causing August to grimace at him in disgust.
He blinked at him before returning his gaze to Tom, who spoke finally, "yes, Bunnys correct."
"Differences of opinions," He admitted with a shrug.
"About?" August prodded raising a brow.
"And you said I was nosy," Tom said smugly as August sat down opposite him.
To which August shrugged, "maybe I am, is that so bad?"
And Tom stared at him, his eyes searching his, "no, no it's not."
Bunny yawned, causing them both to turn to him, "this is fun and all, but I'm going back to bed, see you tomorrow I guess," and in a moment, he got up, stretching and dragging Reinhardt up with him.
August stared after them, "he's odd, isn't he?"
"Bunny? Yes. Won't even follow a simple order either," he commented with a shrug.
"But it's not a about Bunny for once, it's about you,"
"Me?" August pointed to himself for added effect.
"Yes, you, Brax doesn't want you to be our friend, but we do."
"We?"
"Yes, me, Reinhardt, Bunny and Theo." He explained taking a sip of his tea before adding, "especially Bunny, he's desperate for a new face."
August snorted, "really? Didn't think he was that fond of me,"
"Bunny's fond of most people, it gets him in trouble," Tom noted placing his tea back down. August eyed his fingers, slender and long. Though yellowed from nicotine no doubt.
"Mainly because of last night this whole commotion happened, you're the only person we can find who can actually do necromancy," he said in awe, making August pinken slightly at the proud gleam that shone in Tom's eyes.
"It's hard work but I had a lot of practice, and an excellent teacher," he thought of his old teacher, Master Bradbury, an old man wise beyond his years, older than most because of the necromancy practiced on him.
"Well, you could teach us? If you'd like, we'd love to learn," Tom's hopeful grin that sported on his face was something that August found fascinating, he'd never seen Tom smile so big.
"What do I get in return?"
Tom smiled, "friends, power and glory,"
"Deal." He said without thinking.
