CHAPTER NINE
DREAMS

THE HUNT FINISHED WHEN THE LAST MUGGLE WAS KILLED. Augustine didn't understand how anyone knew when this was, but as the sun had set considerably behind the tall trees, they came to a halt, signalling that they had apparently finished.

He felt heavy when he trudged back to the Goyle Manor, his head swimming, his clothes bloodied. He'd killed more than one, and Bunny couldn't be prouder. His large arm slung over him, bringing him close.

"So proud of you," he murmured into the shell of his ear and Augustine smiled, "thank you," he replied softly.

Though nothing about Augustine can be described as soft anymore. Not after today. He thought maybe his soul could be saved, but now, having killed innocents (and enjoying it) he knew his soul was damned. Dark and blackened.

And as they walked back to the manor, Augustine couldn't help but think of Bunny's words, are you sure? Did Jasper really rape Flick? Or was it some sick idea that Tom had planted into his head so that he could force him to do his bidding? To keep him subordinate? To keep him chained?

Like a pet.

He wiped the thought from his mind, he'll think about it another time.

Once he arrived back at the grounds, Augustine could spot the rest of the Knights.

Flick was lounging around on a blanket she'd thrown down onto the floor. In one hand, a wine glass, the other, a cigarette. Her pink dress hem rolled upwards revealing her muddy trousers.

Abraxas was sitting crossed legged besides Reinhardt, peering over his shoulder at the magazine propped up in Reinhardt's bony hands.

None of them seemed to care as Augustine walked up towards them.

"Have fun?" He asked them slightly out of breath. When he scanned them, he barely saw blood on them. Except for the blood that settled under their fingertips. They must've cleaned up earlier.

They didn't answer him, Flick stared straight through him and Augustine frowned.

This was strange.

And then Bunny appeared behind him, having given back the guns, he smiled to them.

"Augustine passed you can stop ignoring him,"

Once Bunny said that, they all sighed with relief at the same time, "oh I'm so glad," Flick exclaimed proudly slapping her hands together in joy, once she laid her drink down, dunking the cigarette into the last bit of wine.

"Well done," Abraxas responded stiffly, not taking his eyes off of the magazine. Later on, Bunny would tell Augustine why he was like that, if Augustine had failed, Abraxas would leave to help Tom for the week. He had stolen what Abraxas wanted, and he couldn't be happier.

Reinhardt lifted his head to look to Augustine, "thank merlin for that, I was starting to like you."

Augustine scoffed, "how sweet."

"What? We thought you failed!" Flick retorted defensively, "it would've been weird if we started talking to you only to find out you failed!"
