CHAPTER ONE
SCOUTING FOR LOVEWEEKS WENT BY AND EACH TIME THEY MET, THEY WERE BETTER AND STRONGER THAN BEFORE. Augustine never felt like they were doing any of this for a reason. It just felt like they were a group of friends messing around, that was, until Tom would speak, jolting them back to reality with the task at hand.
Ruling the wizarding world.
Tom had told them at the last meeting that they were close to phase one. Meaning merlin knows what, Augustine hadn't thought much of it. It had slipped his mind in favour of other important things; such as the celestial ball.
The celestial ball would be soon and for a start, Augustine was one of the first to get a date. This surprised everyone.
Mainly Augustine.
At lunch, the day prior, Juno had slid onto the bench besides him, grinning infectiously.
"Afternoon, good class?" She asked still smiling.
"S'alright," he muttered, drink close to his lips to stop the smile from breaking onto his face.
"That's good." Still smiling, she'd kissed him on his cheek, a quick peck that startled Augustine. "We're going to the ball still, yeah?"
Augustine had stuttered out a "y-yeah?" before she'd vanished from the table, leaving the rest of them to look utterly bewildered at what had just happened.
....
AUGUSTINE ROSE TO THE SOUND OF BUNNY PACING THE ROOM. The sounds of his heavy paces caused Augustine to shrivel his face as he pulled back the curtains of his bed.
He was surprised to find the rest of the knights were also awake, looking as miserable as Augustine felt.
Bunny was usually the first to rise out of them all, waking up at six to run around the quidditch grounds and would be back in time for the start of breakfast.
But today, he rose at five, and was currently making it everyone else's business.
"Bunny just calm down," Abraxas said irritably from his bed, his blonde hair had fallen from his ponytail, leaving strands of hair all over his face.
"I can't!" He replied wildly, throwing his hands up in the air.
"What's going on?" Augustine asked rubbing his eyes, causing the rest of the Knights to look towards him.
"The scouts August! The scouts are here today!" Bunny responded exasperatedly, waving his hands through the air.
Augustine blinked at him, and then looked to the others for answers.
"Quidditch scouts; they come in the middle of sixth year to look for new recruits for teams." Theo explained from his bed.
Augustine nodded understandingly, "so they're here for the match today?"
"Bingo." Bunny spoke miserably before flopping onto his bed in a groan.
Tom, from where he sat bleary eyed, stretched, causing Augustine to take a look.
He wished he hadn't.
As he stretched, his pyjama t-shirt had risen, and there it was, clear as day.
A large scar where Augustine had stabbed him in his moment of jealousy over Holly.
Augustine paled at the sight before averting his gaze.
So it had happened then. He had stabbed him. He had kissed him so softly, muttering words of obsession into his ear.
....
"Listen up dickheads!" Bunny's voice boomed in the changing rooms over the sounds of the cheering students from outside.
He stood on a bench, hands on his hips as he awaited for complete silence. It wasn't hard, Bunny had a hold on everyone in this room, mainly due to being so feared.
But Augustine wasn't listening, he was still wondering why Juno had assumed they were going to the ball together.
He hadn't exactly paid her much attention in the last few weeks, what with club meetings and all. It's not as if they hung out much, even at lunch or in their free periods.
"Today no one can fuck this game up! Do you understand?"
Teammates nodded silently, no one would mess this up for Bunny, or else people would get hurt, everyone knew that.
Bunny then turned to Augustine, "I'm swapping positions with you today,"
"Excuse me?" Augustine exclaimed madly from his seat besides Reinhardt. Augustine wasn't a beater, he just didn't have the right muscles for it.
Bunny shrugged and replied simply, "I need them to see how great I am, I'm not gonna be able to show that through beating, am I?"
"But I can't beat," Augustine admitted dejectedly.
"And who's fault is that? It's certainly not mine."
Augustine rolled his eyes, "fine, if we loose because of my beating skills, it will be all your fault."
....
Augustine clutched the bat tightly with one hand, as the other held the front of his broom sternly.
Looking down, he could see the two captains ready to shake hands. He'd forgotten they were up against Ravenclaw today.
Bunny and Juno shook hands. Juno looked up as she did so to smile at Augustine, who smiled back quickly before averting his eyes to anywhere but her.
And when his eyes grazed across the pitch to where the rest of the students sat waving and cheering, he realised why Juno was seemingly so in love with him.
Vincent sat mere meters from where the rest of Juno's friends sat. Vincent had done this. Vincent had decided all on his own that Augustine needed Juno.
And all Augustine thought as he was ready to pelt bludgers was of Vincent, and how good it would feel to beat him to death with the bat in his hand.
He didn't miss any bludgers that game.
