"Hey, Y/N? We need to talk."
You turn to your friend Denise as she takes the seat beside yours, her brows furrowed. "Huh? Why? What do you mean? Is it about the project? I already told you, as long as we continue what we've been doing, then we'll beable to finish it in time," you tell her reassuringly, but her brows remain furrowed as she looks at you, her lips forming a slight pout.
"It's not... exactly about the project," she says, and you turn to her with a clueless expression. Anannoyed expression then forms on her face as she groans in exasperation. "Seriously, Y/N? How can you be so clueless?"
"What? What'd I do? Is it because of what I did to Yunho this morning?" you ask her, mentioning your other friend.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Youngmin appears behind you, bursting with laughter as he slaps the desk of the seat he's on, Yunho later on appearing and cautiously taking the seat beside him, still seemingly scared of you.
"Seriously, I would have never though to see Fighter Y/N in action ever in my life!" Youngmin says in an amused tone and you turn to him with your eyes narrowed.
"I can show you again if you want to," you tell him and he immediately stops laughing. Your gaze then lands on Yunho who avoids your gaze as he looks up towards the ceiling. You let out a sigh before repeating your words at the principal's office. "I already said I'm sorry, okay? Now stop acting so scared around me! It feels awkward."
"I wouldn't blame him, though," Denise interjects and you turn back to her, your brows furrowed. "You don't even hang out with us as friends anymore, and he misses one night of the project and you start tackling him down like a rugby player."
"What are you talking about? I still hang out with you guys... as..." you start slowing down when Denise raises her brow at you and you turn to the boys behind you to see them looking away, avoiding your gaze while seemingly agreeing with Denise.
An exasperated sigh escapes you as you turn back to Denise. "Well, you can't blame me, either. Our project's deadline is just a week away and I would really like to focus on finishing it rather than 'hanging out'." You make air quotes as you say the last two words and Denise just looks at you with disapproval.
"Are you forgetting how our group was even made?" she asks you. "The teacher actually allowed us to choose our groupmates, and the four of us chose each other because we're friends. Not for any other reason. Heck, if that wasn't even the case, then I'm sure you would have gone ahead and made a group of the top 4 students of the class!"
"No, I wouldn't," you tell her, making an expression saying that her idea is absurd, but she looks at you with an unconvinced expression. "Oh, please. I would never do that. I promise." You raise your right hand in the air to prove your point and Denise just rolls her eyes. "Oh, come on. Let's be real here. It's not like the top 2 students actually got to where they are now by hanging out with whatever friends they have. They barely even have any friends!"
"Uh, technically," Youngmin interjects from behind you as he inserts himself between you and Denise and points towards one corner of the classroom, towards a boy chatting happily with other kids in the classroom, "Park Junseo is a pretty social guy and he has like 20 friends or so in this school that he takes turns hanging out with and he still somehow managed to become, and still is, our class top 1."
You and Denise turn towards where he's pointing at, and you wear a "meh" expression on your face as you shrug and turn back to Youngmin. "Well, it's just him, anyway. What about top 2?"
This time, Yunho seems to have regained his confidence around you, and he actively joins in on your conversation, arguing against your statement. "Kim Minkyu is actually pretty social as well. He has his own 'group of friends'," he says with air quotes and an eye roll, "who, apparently, just hang out with the poor kid to copy his homework."
