Ch. 34: If It's Not Serious

It wasn't long before you eventually got to your classroom after recovering in the clinic, but as soon as you entered the room, no one could deny the grim expression you had on your face. Still, they kept quiet about it, and you were able to get to your seat quietly, though not without wary glances from your classmates.

About your expression, your seatmate, Minkyu, asked about it first. "Hey, uh... Y/N? What's up? You look like you just rose from the dead," he asks, though trying to be cautious with his words in case he might accidentally cause you to have an outburst.

You didn't, though. Instead, you just quickly turn to him with slightly widened eyes as if you had just woken up from a trance. "Huh? I-I do?" you ask as you suddenly become aware of yourself and your surroundings. And then you eventually notice your classmates giving you glances.

Eventually, your eyes wander off to your friends who are seated on different sides. First, you look towards Youngmin who's giving you a confused look, then you look towards Denise and Yunho to see them looking at you with concern and furrowed brows.

It's clear in everyone's looks at you just what they want to know: "What happened?"

"Ugh... It's nothing." You groan slightly as you bring your hand to your forehead while replying to your seatmate's question. "The next teacher is coming soon. We should get ready for the next class."

Eventually, everyone just goes back to whatever they were doing, except for your friends who still continue to worry for you, and you just take out your notebook for the next subject, opening it only for your mind to wander off somewhere a moment later.

...

"What?" you breathe out, still not believing how persistent Hyunjin is with his answers. "Hyunjin, please. This is also for the best for both of us."

"No! It's for the best for both you and Jisung," Hyunjin suddenly says, sounding upset.

You just continue looking at him with wide eyes after he had said that.

"I like you, Y/N! I can't just let go of you like how you wang me to and you can't expect me to do that either! I. Like. You!" Hyunjin just continues speaking, letting his thoughts and emotions out, and you just continue watching in surprise and disbelief.

... Why won't he let you go?

"I'm sorry, Y/N. But I can't break up with you." That was the last thing Hyunjin had told you before he left the room, leaving you speechless and not knowing what to do.

Hyunjin won't break up with you. Does that mean you can't be with Jisung?

"Y/N... Y/N? Yah, Jeon Y/N!"

"Huh?" you snap out of your thoughts and you look up to see your friends looking down at you with confused expressions.

"You good?" Denise asks you, and you turn to her. "You've been staring into space since the beginning of class. That's 2 hours. You've been thinking about something for two hours! What in the world were you thinking of?"

Your eyes widen when you hear what Denise had said. "Wait, what?! 'Two hours'?!"

Youngmin nods, then your gaze turns to him. "What in the world even happened when we left you with Jisung anyway?" he then asks.

You just look down as you remember what had happened, and a sigh soon escapes you. "... Hyunjin... came in."

"What?!" Yunho suddenly shouts, and you and your other friends quickly turn to him with surprised expressions. Why does he seem so affected? Yunho just quickly changes his upset expression while clearing his throat. "Sorry, you were saying?"
