Ch. 26: Out of Character

A sudden shout escapes you as you wake up, quickly sitting up in bed and suddenly realizing where you are as you look around.

"Wait. I'm... I'm home?" you ask yourself as you recognize your own room. "T-then that-" You quickly look down on your clothes to see yourself in your house clothes. You breathe out as you lift your head and just look at nothing in particular, your expression looking stupid. "Huh. It was all just a dream."

You let a sigh escape you as you think of what you think could have been your dream. But it felt so real. When Jisung hugged you, you were just sure that it was him that had saved you all along.

And after that...

Suddenly, a yelp escapes you as you bring your knees to your chest and you hide your face in them as your face starts heating up.

Yes, Jisung had kissed you. And this time, he seemed to have done it on purpose. And you felt it. You know you felt it, so...

Was it really all just a dream?

"Aish, what is wrong with me?" you mumble into your knees as you hide your face, still blushing hard as you try to get rid of the thought. "Argh! Stop thinking about it, Y/N!" you shout as you lift your head a little just to grab your hair.

But your mind just won't listen to you at all as it plays yet another memory.

With barely any distance between your faces, you suddenly see Jisung looking at you with a blank expression, his eyes locked with yours.

"Y/N... I think I do."

This time, you actually scream as you fall backwards onto your bed, grabbing a pillow and basically smothering yourself as you scream into the pillow.

"Y/N? Are you okay in there?" you hear your mother ask from outside your room, and you stop screaming before you remove your pillow from your face.

"Yes, mom! I'm fine," you respond, though your voice sounds laced with tiredness.

"Are you sure?" she asks. "Well, you better get ready for school! Your alarm had been going off since ten minutes ago! Thank goodness, you finally woke up!"

Your eyes widen when you hear her words, and you quickly turn to your alarm clock to see that it's actually already past the alarm by thirty minutes. "I'm gonna be late!" you shout as you sit up only to fall out of bed. "Ow," you mumble before you quickly get up to get ready for school like your mother had told you.

"So, uh... Are you... actually... sure about this?" Chan looks ahead towards the boy standing infront of him, eyes sparkling and hands obediently at his sides as he nods. Meanwhile, Chan wears a doubtful look on his face as he holds the application papers in his hands, Jinhee standing beside him and peeking in at the papers before looking towards the applicant. "Changbin, it's not that I think you can't do it, but... so suddenly?" Chan furrows his brows as he asks the younger. "And this definitely doesn't seem like you at all. Alright, what happened?"

At that, Jinhee's brows furrow before she turns to Chan and punches his arm, making him let out a brief shout. "What are you talking about? If he wants to join, then let him join," Jinhee tells him.

Chan just sneers at her while rubbing his arm before he turns back to Changbin. "Seriously, what happened?"

Jinhee raises her hand to threaten to hit him again and Chan shrinks back only for Changbin to suddenly speak.
