Breaking Out (5x11)

Everything was going to hell in a handbasket quick. Vampire attacks were up thanks to the bat-shite crazy AVL. I passed on Eric's warning to Marcus. All Covens were in lockdown around the world. Angry humans would be indiscriminate in their attacks. 

Non-vampires under our protection, especially fairies, were under curfew. Most of them decided to temporarily move into Covens for additional security. It was easy to accommodate them within the enormous buildings.  The guards would also keep anyone from eating them. Governments were keeping blood donation steady & we had plenty of animal blood. 

No one seemed to have their shite together either. Luna's daughter got kidnapped by Steve Newlin. Sam didn't want to involve me but I offered my help. I gave both of them trackers which fit snugly & discreetly in their hair. With it, I could come running when they found her. It was also my way of keeping tabs on them in case they got caught by Newlin or worse Russell. 

I went extra with their safety & put a protection charm on them. If anyone attacked them, they would be ripped apart by tormented souls. I checked on their locations throughout the day & had a heart attack when it showed New Orleans.

Alcide was hanging around the house now after Mike's attack. He knew I could handle myself. But, he didn't like that a vampire got in. With the house still under Eric, we had no protection from barring them. I was relieved to have him around as my nerves were running high. But, he had his own issues with his dad. 

He was helping him put up a silver fence during the day. The extra time was getting on his nerves. His dad was a lone wolf now. He got kicked out of being pack master for stealing from the pack. But, he spent his ousted time drinking away & pissing away his government benefits. Alcide was frustrated with his abandonment of the wolf teachings he harped about. I did my best to comfort him & ease his stress whenever we spoke/saw each other. 

While Alcide was out, Jason stopped by after his shift. He hadn't been able to stop by for a couple of days with vamp attacks growing. But, he snooped around Gran's room, my room, after we shared the latest craziness. Thanks to him we found a weird scroll in a fake floorboard. I took a look & recognised the writings as faerie. But, I had no idea how to read it. We needed to see them to decipher it. But, just as we headed out, I got a call from Hoyt.

I told them to go on without me. Sook had to haul out Jase. I didn't understand why he'd be nervous about Hoyt & me alone. I didn't have to wait too long & offered him a drink in the kitchen. It was good to see him recovered from Bud's torture but his news was crazy.

He was taking an oil rig job in Alaska with the other road crew. I was excited for him to get a new start with his life & finally get away from his mom's smothering. He asked for Sook but I told him he just missed her & Jase. I was puzzled as to why he didn't remember him. I just let it slide as I knew Jase had plenty of explaining. 

The short conversation was a pleasant surprise. We drank moderately to celebrate his new start. But, our time got cut short with a call to my cell. I answered it since it was Jase. He filled me in on the parchment but I had to discreetly respond. It turned out to be a blood contract from the 1700s. Poor Sook was the 1st fae girl. This was why Warlow was coming after her. 

They were coming over to collect some clothes. Jase had the right idea to hide Sook with the faires. I told him I'd have our things ready. He asked if Hoyt was leaving & I said yes. He was going to try to talk with him on the way over. He hung up after that, allowing me to send off Hoyt. I hugged him tight before he started the car. He wished me the best & passed letters to us.

After he left, I quickly got 3 bags ready. I got a bag of clothes for Sook & me. But, my bag also had some blood bags since it was risky leaving Sook alone. In the last bag, I was packing an armoury. I'd keep in touch with my siblings through our telepathic link. It'd be easy to connect with Marcus since I'd be sleeping during the day too. But, I also brought my phone & computer along with plenty of backup batteries. With the Authority insane, I had to protect my people from getting roped into the lynchings.
