My head was going in a tailspin with all this fairy news. I walked around the house in a bit of a haze. Everything they were talking about sounded muffled. I went into robot host mode as I set the kitchen table. My new cousins noticed & gave me space. Jason was oblivious & was excited to meet them. I was glad someone was giving them a proper welcome. I managed to snap back into focus when we sat down. I wasn't going to miss this crazy story of how we were family.
"Soo, how exactly are we all related?" I asked
"Well, you & I are related through extended family. My eldest sister Amahle married your ancestor, Niall's great-great-uncle. You & your brother are my cousins-in-law." Lungile explained
"Thanks for the easy explanation. What about Maria? Aside from the fairy powers, I can't see much resemblance. No offence." I moved on
"It's fine. She's only 1/4 Nsoki technically. There's not much hope for a strong physical similarity." She chuckled
"I'm her great-aunt. Her mother, Alina, is my niece. Amahle Nsoki & Victor Valerios are her grandparents. Hence, she is related to both of us." She explained while Jase shovelled food in
"Does she know you're looking for her?" I continued, grimacing at Jason
"I doubt she knows a thing. She probably thinks we're dead. Sookie, our family history is a bit messy." She warned me
"What happened?" I asked
"Both sides of the family were wiped out thousands of years ago. It...was a massacre. There's only a handful of us alive now. Niall was a nice surprise. I thought Richard, Maria's uncle, was the last Valerios." She painfully recalled
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring up bad memories." I apologised
"No worries. You deserve to know about your family." She assured me
"Do you at least know who did it?" I inquired
"Yes. The whole occult world knows. It is considered a great tragedy." She mumbled. I could tell my questions were hurting more so I stopped.
Jason quickly filled the awkward silence. It was 1 of the smartest things he did tonight. He decided to share his crazy meeting with Niall. Our newfound cousins were laughing at his animated facial expressions as he spoke. I was glad they seemed to enjoy him. But, I was more focused on the fairy abilities. It had me wondering what other things I could do with a proper teacher.
"He's been tracking Warlow like Boba Fett. An intergalactic bounty hunter." Jason admired
"Now, you're not from outer space or something?" He asked
"I wasn't but our family isn't originally from Earth." Niall answered before swallowing a mouthful of salt. His answer got the 2 of us perplexed.
"Fairy's have lived on a variety of planets. Being creatures of nature, our powers along with emotions can be amplified by the earth itself." Langa explained
"Ooh, I wasn't expecting that. Well, the important thing is that when Warlow gets here..." Jason refocused, hiding the shock from all this new information
"He's already here." Niall interrupted which made my heart drop
"What?" Jason stuttered
"When?!" I panicked
