: The downfall 5

Charles was just silent while sitting on the chair, he felt nervous and he didn’t know why he can’t face Georgina who is in front of him standing and sighing deeply. At this time he felt weak and trembling at the bed of his room, still in Manervas.

Georgina didn’t know what to do either, she was overwhelmed a while ago about what Valeria said to her, she knows deep down that she will just understand him and help him but she was just sad to feel that he’s man that he trusted the most didn’t even share his personal thoughts, and with that she got anxious.

A lot of minutes have passed and Georgina quickly faced him with teary eyes, “Why?” she asked suddenly kaya agad na tumingin si Charles sa kaniya nang may kaba sa mukha.

“Georgina, let me explain.” His voice was trembling as he looks at her. “Then explain it to me right now! And I want it to be clear Darwin!” she started to raise her voice at him kaya napalunok muna si Charles bago kumuha nang hangin.

“What she said was partly right Azalei.”

“What do you mean partly right?” Charles then stood up from the bed he’s sitting at biglang pumunta sa bintana para doon isabi ang kaniyang mga sasabihin.

“When the business went down, mamá and I were finding a plan to revive it... but later on I got an unexpected news from her at nagulat nalang ako nang nandiyan na ang mga Cortez sa bahay namin doon sa Seville. We had an agreement that they will help us fully if I will agree on marrying Valeria.” Agad na nagulat si Georgina sa kaniyang kinatatayuan, she felt the pain again but she hid it for now and just let him continue.

Charles silently left a tear pero wala siyang iba pang gagawin ngayon dahil gusto niya nalang na malaman to ni Georgina upang mapag-usapan at mag-kaintindihan.

“You know that I don’t want it to happen Georgina dahil mahal kita, I tried my best to stop it everytime they will force me to,  kahit umabot pa sa sitwasyon na nag-aaway na kaming magkapamilya. I was having a hard time since then Azalei, I don’t know what to do because they always force me into that absurd plan. I love you so much Azalei at hindi ako papayag dun para lamang maisalba ang business namin kasi alam kong may iba pang paraan. And also to let this all be said to you, Valeria confessed to me a long time ago pero agad ko siyang pinigilan dahil pinaalam ko na ikaw na yung mahal ko but she keeps on getting on me. I didn’t say this to you since then Azalei kasi natatakot ako sayo, natatakot ako baka iwan mo ako pagkatapos nito at alam kong mag-aalala ka sakin nang sobra. I’m very sorry Azalei, I’m sorry.” Mahabang pagpa-paliwanag ni Charles sa kaniya at walang sinabing napaluha na si Georgina.

She was anxious to hear that he’s  enduring the pain and confusion right now, she wanted to understand him but a part of her was still hurt because he didn’t spoke with this in the first place, alam niya naman sa sarili niya na agad itong sinasabi ni Charles sa kaniya ang kaniyang mga problema, pero ngayon natagalan nga lamang.

“Why didn’t you even told me in the firstplace? Alam mo naman na iintindihin kita sa lagay nayan.. pero bakit? Bakit ka natatakot?” she asked him and then faced him before trying to wipe her tears on her face.

Charles then gripped his hands and started to cry more, hearing his woman crying because of him really hurts him a lot. Georgina sighed again, her body was now weak because of too much emotion, napaupo na lamang siya sa kama at doon umiyak.

Charles cannot control his self anymore at bigla na lamang na hinarap si Georgina para lapitan at yakapin ito, pero nabigo siya dahil pinapalayo siya nito nang pilit.

“No, no don’t hug me just like that, nasaktan ako sa ginawa mo Darwin! all this time I assumed that you will be this honest to me every time because that's the only thing that we could be rest assured for the both of us pero bakit mo pa tinago? I was very disappointed at you Darwin kasi naging duwag ka naman at ngayon sakin na. Alam mo naman diba na hindi ko gusto na maging ganiyan ka.... Losing your trust in me sounds like you don’t love me anymore.” Agad na nagulat si Charles sa kaniyang sinabi at pinilit siyang niyakap nang may mga luha sa kaniyang pisngi.
