This one's for the Mums, again.

And you: If you don't have a Mum in your life, you can borrow Molly whenever you'd like.

A/N: Hello everyone!

I hope you're all doing lovely, and that you've had a wonderful two weeks. I so enjoyed reading all of your comments about knitting on the silly little video I put up last week. <3 Please feel free to keep me updated on your projects at any time.

Thank you so much for the kindness, encouragement, and kudos/comments on the last chapter! (And also for taking the time to read!! <3 <3 <3 ) The warm response you all provided to my announcement was so very wonderful, and I can already tell that this schedule is working far, far better for my creativity. I had time to sort the trailer thoughtfully, to get a solid break, and to shift through the multiple, messy stages of drafting and editing. I don't think I've had a chapter done this early on a Monday in ages. <3 <3 <3 I'm so, so excited.

Also: I'm just about to run to get my second "hug potion." (For those who were at all curious for an update on that endeavor.) <3 <3 <3

As always, I do not own the rights to these characters or to this story world. <3

A side note: Lumos is a year old, as of two days ago. I can't believe it's been so long. Some of you have been with this story since its start and some have joined recently, but either way: Thank you for taking time out of your day to read. If I could transport a birthday cake to all of you in celebration and thanks, I would. <3 <3 <3

Alright! Grab your snack (I recommend a good, flakey scone this week), your drink (I'm drinking espresso), and your coziest quilt. Let's dive in. <3

ChapterForty-Three: "Matriarch"

Hermione

May 16, 2003, 9:27 p.m.

"Periculum!" Hermione shouted.

Sparks pinwheeled into the sky. Percy's head snapped upright. The cardinal light streaked in the reflection on his black eyes as red glow shuttered over his face.

"What are you doing?" Fred shouted.

"They'll be able to see it better," Hermione cried.

Fred whipped an arm through the rain. "Exactly!" he yelled. "Everyone will be able to—"

Thunder clapped, followed by the creak, groan, and crash of a tree hitting the forest floor to their right.

Teddy flinched in the strobe, his hands tightening on the front of George's slicker. "S'alright, buddy," George called over the continual, rushing downpour as he vainly attempted to shift Teddy away from the onslaught.
