Chapter Forty-Five: "Portus"

The most important part of any portkey journey is knowing how to hold on and let go properly.

A/N: Hi everyone!
First: This chapter is wildly late. I did not anticipate writing an approximately 43k chapter. But that is what ended up happening. Please forgive me. This will never happen again. <3
Second: If you want to break it into multiple readings, I recommend doing so at May 19, 5:50 p.m., before May 20, 11:07 a.m., then the scenes on May 21st and May 22nd, respectively.
Third: These characters, as always, do not belong to me. Nor does the story world.
Fourth: Thank you so, so much for taking the time to read, for the comments and encouragement last chapter, and for your unyielding patience. Especially when the schedule goes so awry, as it did this week.

It is still technically Wednesday for me, but it's really Thursday, by now. Given how long this chapter is and the recovery time I think I'm going to need, I'm planning the next update for July 12. (We're still staying biweekly, this is just to iron out the wrinkle from this chapter's difficulties.) I want to stick to a schedule, but I also know that I'll end up running myself a bit thin if I don't pace myself properly after the marathon that was "Portus." I hope that's okay!! <3 <3 <3
