The days were cool, and the nights were full of opportunity. Just a child, you were curious of many things in the world; far more than any ordinary 10 year old. Where you lived it was relatively safe, for the most part at least, so your parents didn't supervise you very well. It was your time to shine, as your mind floated towards stargazing and finding the never ending enigmas of the night.

As your little fingertips slammed the back door, you peered out towards the hills that covered your backyard. The moon grew bright over the moss that had had little spots of ice growing over them. It wasn't an eerie feeling that swept over you, but a curious one. You took off as fast as you can, not looking back once at the cottages of your neighbors.

Rumor had it, in your little town, at the top of the hills trolls would live in their tiny houses and came out at night and weren't friendly towards visitors; but that was only what you were told as you had never seen them. Your parents told you to stay away from such silly tales, but tonight you had a purpose to find them.

You excitedly sprinted faster and faster up the hills, so close to the top where allegedly the trolls would stay. Finally after what seemed like miles, you seen a tiny red building with a brown chimney. There was a wooden sign outside of it and to your surprise it read:

'keep out, the trolls eat children'

"That's stupid, trolls are fake. This has to be some type of scare tactic, I'm not afraid of no tiny human... or whatever they are."

You gasped as a feeling of fear quickly swept over you, far from the excitement you once felt. You tried to calm yourself down but before you could you heard a jumbling sound coming from the house, and a grumpy old troll bursted out of the door.

Before you could stop yourself, you let out a scream that shrilled into night. You were all alone, no one was there to save you, or that's what you thought at least.

"Don't be loud, the trolls are just grumpy because they haven't had their snacks yet." The young blonde warned you, as he proceeded to pull out a bag of what seemed to be chips out of his jacket.

This was horrifying... Casually, he began feeding the chips to the trolls and they started nuzzling up to his knees, wrapping their tiny terrifying hands around him as they stuffed their faces full of the snack.

Your mouth gaped open, as he handed you a chip to feed to the troll. "So trolls are fake? Don't be rude, feed them."

You took the chip, and knelt down to the trolls level, as one scurried over to you, cuddling you like he was your new adopted child. "Wow... they're actually kind of, nice?"

"Mhm" The boy nodded in agreement, as he gave the troll near him the last chip. "They say they like you."

As the trolls finished eating, you both got up, and proceeded to walk down the mountain. This was not at all what you expected your night to consume of, but the two of you soon approached a resting point at a large tree towards the end of the hill. The both of you sat down and gazed at the stars.

"So, what's your name? Mines (f/n)." You asked, gazing at him as he watched the stars.

Slowly, he looked at you, as his expressionless face slightly began to gain feature. "Lukas, but I will say one thing. No one has ever believed the trolls were real like me."

For a slight moment, you were left at a loss for words. This night was so unexpected and strange, but you understood quickly how much this meant to him and a smile soon crossed your lips. "I mean, the talk of the town is the trolls that live in those houses, I guess no one was ever brave enough to discover them like us though."
