A broke college student needed to pay for bills and necessities somehow. After realizing that your home country didn't provide you with your needs, you decided to move to Canada to study after high school. Quebec was the province you decided to go studying in—but your work was on the outskirts of Montreal.

The city felt like your home away from home, it was beautiful. For a city it was calm and reserved and for once you could say you loved your job. You worked in a small coffee shop that was connected to a little bookstore where tourists would enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee and picking up a few postcards before disembarking to their hometown.

It was far from the average Canadian loved Tim Horton's, but this peaceful shop couldn't even be compared to it. You often didn't see very many repeat customers because the shop wasn't well known besides the tourists, but today that would all change.

You were casually adding the freshly cleaned coffee cups back to the shelf when you heard the chime of the door whenever a customer would come in. Stopping your useless task, you made your way up to the front counter where customers would order.

There you seen a boy not much older than you, blonde hair, blue eyes and glasses. His youthful features shocked you, not because he was getting coffee; but because he was wearing a sweatshirt with the red and white colors of the flag with a large maple leaf imprinted in the middle of it.

What in the world was a millennial local doing in your coffee shop? This was a place only middle-aged business people would go to get their daily coffee fix before work. All of the teenagers would go to TH's or Starbucks.

You gave him a friendly smile as he reached the counter, and opened your mouth to speak.

"Hey stranger, what brings you in here? If you're looking for the bookstore it's right down the hall," Usually, you wouldn't approach customers in such a casual manner but he appeared to be your age so you let it slide this time.

"No, I think I'm just getting coffee today," He smiled shyly, "You guys got pretty good brews here, eh? I've been here a time or two before but I've never had the chance to try anything before."

When it came to coffee, you were just the expert for it. "Of course we do, but if you've been here before—why haven't I remembered you before?" You looked up at him to see his shy smile turn into a pout.

"Not many people remember me," He said with  a sigh as his eyes made his way up to the menu.

"Well let me tell you what," You began. "If you come in here tomorrow I'll be sure to remember your name and your order. Now can I get this order started out with a name?" You asked, this was a usual procedure whenever taking orders, but this time it came off rather flirtatiously.

"It's Matthew," He replied with a blush due to the obvious boldness in your voice. "Can I get a whipped coffee but instead of sugar can I get—"

"Maple syrup." You both said in unison.

He shook his head, and your face soon lit up.

"That's what I usually get too, great choice." You stuck a thumbs up before entering the order into the system. "Your order will be out soon, you can take a seat over there." You pointed to the set of comfortable brown couches in the corner of the shop near the window.

"W-Wait don't I need to pay you?" He said quietly with a confused expression.

"It's on me," You winked, before making your way to the brewing table, watching the Canadian make way to the couches.

Damn, what's gotten into me? I'm being awful risky today.

As soon as you added the last swirl of maple syrup to the coffee, you brought the drink out on a tray. You put it down gracefully in front of him.
