Hongjoong was worried and a bit annoyed. When he went to pick up the beta from work a few days ago, he had found him in an alarmed and apprehensive state. When he asked Jinhong if he noticed anything peculiar about the beta, he said that he had saw Seonghwa crying but he wasn't sure what about. And when he asked the beta about it again, he didn't answer.

He was glad Seonghwa didn't have work today. There was clearly something making him sad but Seonghwa wouldn't tell him. He didn't want to tell him not to go if he enjoyed working as a doctor. Hongjoong was sure that Jinhong wasn't the one making him upset and to his knowledge, the beta spent most of his day in his office as he never really talked about anybody else.

"Are you going to study today?" Hongjoong asked when they were done eating.

Seonghwa had been eerily quiet all day; it bothered him. Seonghwa raised his head and stared at the alpha a bit vulnerably. He looked like he was about to cry.

He stood up and walked over to the opposite side where Hongjoong sat. He pulled his chair backwards, sat on his lap and buried his face into his neck. The beta wanted to cry but knew Hongjoong would keep asking questions if he did.

Truthfully, he was scared. He had figured out that the only reason somebody would have poked him with a needle would be to try to hurt him like in the lab. The only problem was that he didn't know what they tried to do. He was sure his body had protected him since he healed but the thought scared him. He felt like no matter where he went, he would never be safe. The only person who made him feel remotely safe was the alpha in his arms. So he hugged him tighter and tried to calm down.

"Seonghwa are yo-"
"You'll always protect me right?" He murmured, his voice shaky and filled with fear. Hongjoong was worried but answered the question regardless.

"Always. Anything for Seong."
The beta breathed out feeling a bit more relieved.

I'm safe with Hongjoong. I'll always be safe with Hongjoong.

Tae Oh was restless. Throughout the whole trip, he felt as though he hadn't accomplished anything. He was barely King and couldn't even properly fight to protect himself. More than half of his plans were ruined and he wasn't sure where or even how to start.
Soojin noticed his stressed state and pat him on the back.

"Don't worry too much. It's just part of the process anyway. You'll do great."

He attempted a smile and nodded at the Queen. The sudden movement of the beta grabbed their attention as he fluttered his eyes open. Soojin gasped and felt his forehead.

"San! Are you alright?"

The beta nodded slowly and raised his head to grasp his surroundings. He soon came to realize that they were in the carriage most likely on their way home. There was a light pain in his chest and he felt sad.

"What happened?"
"We're not sure. One minute you're fighting the Han assistant then the next minute you're passed out. The doctor said it was caused by a bond breakage."

San's heart sank.
"Bond breakage?"
"Yes. Did you fight with Wooyoung again? There's no other reason for him to break it," Soojin explained.

The beta started to feel overwhelmed and sad. He was usually great at hiding his emotions and didn't really like crying in front of people but before he could compose himself, his vision blurred and droplets stained his face. His mother softly embraced him and pat his head as he cried.

"He's still in the room?"
"Yup. Hasn't moved an inch since yesterday," Julian answered the captain. He sat down at the breakfast table and began eating.
