Y/N POV
Birds chirping outside my window caught my attention away from my endless scrolling through Tiktok, glimpsing the dewy orange sky peeking through the curtains. I turn back to my phone with a sigh. I had been awake all night, rolling blunt after blunt and doing anything except leaving my thoughts to themselves.
I just couldn't bring myself to sleep, I had funky enough dreams as it was and I'm sure as hell not ready to face the events of Sokovia in my unconsciousness. The sinking feeling returns in my chest, and I reach into the bedside drawer for my grinder.
A gentle knock raps at the door and I use my powers to unlock and open it, not leaving my bed.
"You look awful." Nat states as she comes over and sits at my feet.
"Good morning to you too." I grumble, continuing to assemble my joint.
"We're having breakfast, come down."
"Can you give me, like, fifteen minutes?"
"Fine, but no more than that. I made you pancakes with the special vegan whipped cream so you better come before it's cold."
"God, look at you wifing over me. I should nearly die more often."
She throws her arm up to hit me but I freeze it midair, indigo wrapping around her fist as I smirk at her.
"Kitchen is the floor below, first room on the left. Don't be late."
Getting up off the bed, she strides back out of the room, shutting the door behind her.
Fifteen minutes later, as promised, I put out the roach, rolling out from under the sheets and stumbling to the bathroom. Scrutinising myself in the mirror, the dark circles beneath my puffy eyes are prominent against my pale skin and ratty, unbrushed hair is spilling from the messy bun I had thrown it in sometime around 2 am. Pulling out the hairband, I run the brush through it, leaving it loose around my shoulders. I splash some water on my face and spray some deodorant before shuffling back out to my room, shoving my feet in some socks and grabbing a jumper from the drawers.
Nat, Tony, Thor, Steve, Bucky and Sam all sit around the massive wooden table at the end of the kitchen when I finally navigate my way there. I assume Clint is with his family, but where's Bruce? Wanda, too, was nowhere to be seen.
"The zombie hath risen!" Tony jeered as they notice me creep through the door.
"High enough to float to the clouds." Sam joined in, and the two men snort with laughter.
"Where's Banner?" I grumbled, ignoring them.
"Hulk took off."
My eyes widen as I snap my head up, drifting my gaze to Nat who was fixated on a spot on the floor. I know the two of them had had a little something going on, god knows why but whatever floats her boat I guess. I decide not to press the matter further, knowing Stark will be working to find him. I'll talk to Nat later.
"And... Wanda?" I continue, turning my attention away and to the pancakes stacked in front of the seat beside Nat, sitting down whilst avoiding the others eye-line.
"In her room. She only came out to check on you in the ward."
My stomach fluttered slightly at the thought of the green-eyed girl being concerned for me. The butterflies suddenly get crushed by guilt as I remember how I had left her standing alone in the hallway last night. How could I have been so focused on my own sadness and guilt over Pietro's death I didn't even ask how his only family was doing after it.
