WANDA POV

"Everyone in the meeting room, stat."

Tony's voice rang through the speakers in my room, making me jump as my deep concentrative state is disturbed. Turning the corner of the page, I shut the book I was reading, roll off the bed and make my way out of my room.

I knock on Y/n's room, hoping she'll be there and we can walk down together, but the wood swings open under my fist.

Her empty bed was still unmade from where we had woken this morning after our movie night. I can't help the tiny smile that pulls my lips as I recall the feeling of waking up with Y/n snuggled into my chest.

Maybe she was already down there.

Nat held the elevator doors open with her foot, her arms crossed sternly as she waits for me to reach the end of the corridor.

"Come on, Maximoff. I don't have all day."

"Alright, alright. Patience."

Plopping down in my regular chair at the table, I glance around at the other occupied seats, noticing everyone was here except for Y/n.

"Right..." Stark begins, rising from his seat and moving to start the meeting.

"Wait, shouldn't we wait for Y/n? Has anyone seen her?"

"She's not here right now. Actually, this meeting is about her."

"Is this about how she's been acting recently? Anyone else noticed she's been behaving a bit... Off?"

Bucky, Sam and Nat all raised a hand in acknowledgement of Steve's question, turning back to face Stark to wait for further elaboration.

"No. Yes. Possibly? I was scouring all private and public security footage in the areas where our new powered friend has been and look what I found on a private CCTV cam that just catches the inside of the last house they attacked."

With the click of a button, the footage is being projected on the opposite wall and shivers collect along my spine as I watch the grainy video of unmistakable, indigo flashes come from the window of the house.

"So the powered being has been Y/n all along?" Steve whispers, crashing back against his seat and rubbing his chin anxiously.

"We don't know that. Maybe that was her fighting them?"

"Wanda, she told us they'd already gone by the time she got there. Either way, she's lied to us."

"I did some further digging and found this deep in Twitter."

Stark clicked the button again and the footage swapped to an even worse quality video from someone's phone.

If you squint in just the right way, you can see a shadow projected on the floor with no visible origin before a bright burst of purple sets a nearby tree alight, the blaze hastily put out by an exploded fire hydrant across the street.

I sigh, burying my face in my hands. All the obsessive training and disappearances, she'd been sneaking away to murder people. I knew something was off, why didn't she just tell me? Why didn't I force it out of her?

"Do we know why? Figured out any connection?"

"Well, let's be honest, Y/n's been just as fucked over by Hydra as the rest of us. I went back to the files we found on her when we rescued her and noticed that all but three of the people she's killed were assigned to her case when she was there."
