•••Seanne's POV
5:00PM

"Are you sure you wouldn't go with us?" Julia asked for the fourth consecutive time.

We're outside our last period classroom, and Jayden just called telling us to meet him at the gate. He said he's treating us at Polkafé.

"I told you Dad wants to see me," I said, now getting a bit frustrated. I want to go with them of course, but I need to see my father. I stood him up many times, if I don't appear now, he might pay me a visit in the dorms. That I don't want.

"Alright, alright. I'll tell Jayden," she said before giving me a quick hug, "Bye bye!"

"'Kay! See you tomorrow!" I watched her leave before turning into the direction of my Dad's office.

When I arrived there, I saw the door slightly opened. Look at how clumsy he still is. This is something he and Mom used to bicker about when they're still together. I pushed the door open,  just in time to hear laughter. Dad's and a woman's laughter.

My heart started to beat fast.

Then, I saw him sitting on his chair, by his table; and there's a woman sitting in front of his desk. Chef Gale.

They both looked at me in shock.

"Seanne," Dad said, his hard expression replacing the laughter. "Why didn't you knock?"

I couldn't answer him. I'm looking at Chef Camille who is smiling at me. A smile she doesn't give a student in her class. She's a cool professor, a multi-awarded baker. And 10 years younger than my father.

"Seanne, come sit here," Chef Camille said before standing and facing Dad. "Sevy, I'll go now. Bye!"

Dad just nodded. But his eyes followed Chef Camille to the door.

I, on the other hand, remained standing.

"Sit down," Dad said and placed the folders on his desk in the cabinet behind him.

"Dad, is she your girlfriend?" I asked the moment he faced me again.

Dad just stared at me. He isn't denying. It means I'm right. Well, I'm always right about things like this. I remembered when Mom told me she's got a boyfriend. She treated me then to dinner out of the blue. Now Dad suddenly wanted to see me. Why didn't I think of it?

I forced a smile at Dad. "It's okay. It's your life. So, is this why you want to see me? You shouldn't let that woman go, and introduced me to her."

Dad is looking at me, the nerves in his temples bulging dangerously. I know he's getting angry. I know I'm rude. But I don't care.

"Seanne, I don't like that tone," Dad said. "She is your professor, not just some woman--"

I looked down to prevent myself from rolling my eyes, "What do you want to tell me Dad?"

"It's about your Mom. She called me about that part-time job of yours. What did you tell her?"

"It's nothing. Not a big deal, honestly. You know Mom, she's very over-acting."

Dad just nodded. I want to know what he's thinking. I know there's so much he wanted to say, he was like that--- I knew he was a man of stories. But he doesn't say anything now.

"Anything else?" I asked.

"About your phobia," he started. Dad doesn't know he's my trigger. It's just me and the psychiatrist who knew, and I don't want him to know.

"No big deal, I'm coping just fine," I lied. I waited for more questions but he just fiddled with his phone. "Uhm, I guess you're busy. So... I'll go."
