Chapter 19

After Kat and Max went to change their clothes, Max, Calum, Luke, and Kat all decided to go to Ihop for breakfast.

"I still think we should have invited the others." Kat said as she sat down in the booth along with Max on one side while Calum and Luke sat on the other.

"That would have required waiting on them and that i didnt feel like doing because im starving." Said Calum

"Speaking of the others, Ashton called this morning." Luke said looking at the menu uninterested. "Oh did you answer?"

"Nope. Kinda rude considering it wasnt my phone so i figured better not."

Kat looked at her phone and finally saw the missed calls and messages.

SMS To: Ashton

Hey sorry just now checking my phone sorry to worry you like that :(

Ashton almost immediately answered

SMS From: Ashton

Yeah but i wasnt really worried Luke told me you were fine this morning...he seemed alittle upset with me though.

Sms to: Ashton

Oh really? I wonder what for... i could ask him, that is if you want me to.

SMS From: Ashton

I dont really care im just over it at this point if you want to you can just glad you're safe bye :)

Kat checked a few other messages and missed calls, no one really important. She still wondered why Luke would be upset at Ashton though. "Luke can i ask you something?"

"I already dont like where this is going Kat." Luke Half smiled looking up at her. " Its nothing serious really, Its just that Ashton said that you we're upset with him i just wanted to know why." Lukes smile dissapeared. "I mean its pretty self explantory. He should have picked you up yesterday but he didnt but i dont even really care anymore to be honest." Luke went back to looking at his menu uninterested. Calum started to slightly chuckle, "I didnt know you cared so much Luke."

Luke glared at calum, "Shes my friend why wouldn't I."

"Hi and welcome to IHop! Im Jazlyn and i'll be your waitress today, would you like me to start you off with something to drink?" Kat looked up and saw the girl. She looked really familiar, about 5'6 with long flowing dark red hair and hazel eyes a little lighter than Max's. "Dont I know you from somewhere?" Kat asked disregarding the question. "Yeah third period, Chemistry actually." The girl smiled brightly, she didnt seem too offended that Kat didnt remember her. "Oh yeah! You're the one I always get my notes from if Mr. Conner goes too fast."

"Yup thats me! But anyway are you guys ready to order?" Everyone shook their heads and ordered their food. They talked while they waited for Jazlyn to bring the food back.

"Here you guys are, enjoy your meal!"

"Thanks Jazlyn, hey we should hang out some time this week with it being our last week of break. We could get to know each other more."

"Sure! Tommorrow im free so if you want we could go see a movie or something."

"Well actually i was going to go to the movies with these guys but you're happy to join if you want."

"Sure sounds like fun."

Kat looked in her purse for her phone, "Here put your number in so i can text you a time." Jazlyn entered her number and smiled again. "Well see you tommorrow." Jazlyn walked away to go wait more tables. "Geez just invite the whole school why dont ya'" Max mumbled between bites of her food. "What do you mean it's only one person and it was my idea to go to the movies anyway."

"Look im just saying one minute you dont even recongnize the girl and the next minute you're best friends." Max frowned playing with her food and Calum snickered. "Jealous much?"

Max snapped her head in Calums direction " I am not jealous! im just saying the apple doesnt fall far from the tree." Kat was confused, she knew it ws just a saying but what did that have to do with anything. "What are you even talking about?"

"The fact that she is Cherish's sister they're twins cant you tell? she could be just as evil as her sister for all we know." Max answered. Luke raised an eyebrow at Max. " Well we dont know so atleast give the girl a chance. Plus she has red hair and cherish doesn't it isnt hard to miss that they're twins."

"Listen im just saying you see how Cherish acts."

"And what im saying is they are two totally diffrent people, just because they are sisters doesnt mean they act the same. Cherish just has an enflated ego and think shes just the bees knees."

"Yeah but-" Luke cut Max off, "Listen either you go or you don't i dont really care but dont just sit here and bitch about something that isnt even that big of a deal." Luke's Blunt response shocked Kat. He didnt have to be so mean she was only expressing her point of view. "Listen dude just chill lets just all eat okay." Calum tried to ease the tension, he could tell it wasnt working though.

For the next 20 minutes they sat and ate in silence. "Kat i can drop you off at home if you want." Luke said finally breaking the silence. "Thanks but i was spending the rest of the week at Max's house so Calum can just drop me off-"

"I'll drop you off just come with me i wanted to show you something on the way back."

"Um okay, well i guess i'll see you back at your house Max."

"Yeah sure whatever bye."

Luke and Kat walked through the parking lot to Luke's car. When they started to drive Kat finally worked up the courgae to ask where they were going. "So um where are we going?"

"Dont worry you'll see." after awhile they pulled up to a small park. It was a simple park with some swing sets, a slide, a seasaw, and a sand box. "Why did you bring me here?" Luke started to get out of the car and walk. He walked down a small trail towards the end of the park. The trail took them behind some trees it almost looked like a mini woods. In front of them there was a beautiful garden with a small marble fountain, it didnt look like it worked anymore though. "Its so pretty back here." Kat said admiring the flowers. Luke sat down on the grass looking at some butterflys as they passed by. "This place has been here ever since I moved here accouple of years back." Luke looked admiringly at the flowers too. " I always come here when i need to think or if i just want to get away, relax alittle." Kat sat down next to Luke. She looked at his face, he looked so calm and peaceful. Suddenly Luke grabbed her hand and interlocked his fingers with hers. She tried to look away to hide the blush spreading across her face. " I've never brought anyone back here with me." Luke looked into Kat's eyes. "Why'd you bring me here then?"

Luke half smiled, " I don't know, just felt like it i guess. I figured you'd get a kick out of this place."

Kat smiled, blushing once again. "Listen no more going home with random strangers got it?" Kat giggled "Okay okay it was a stupid desicion i know geez." Luke chuckled at her response, "Yes a very stupid one."

They were silent once again, "Luke i dont believe you."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean what is the real reason you brought me here."

"Like i said i figured you would like it. I mean, well, you're just not like the others. You won't just look back here and see a bunch of flowers and butterflies and a busted foutain and listen to me talk about my 'special hiding place'. You can actually see the real beauty and meaning of why i like it back here."

Kat was silent once again. She could feel the blush creeping up on her skin. "I know you're blushing so theirs no point oh hiding it." he laughed playfully pushing her.

They were having a nice time just talking and goofing off when Lukes phone suddenly rang.

"Hello?" Lukes facial expression suddenly turned sour. "Fine im on my way."

"Come on." Luke said getting up grabbing onto Kats hand. "w-what happened?"

Luke was silent untill they got to the car. "Luke what happen-"

"Ashton was arrested."
