Jason's pov:

Another night of patrol. I sat on a building looking out to Gotham. Quiet. Well, it seemed quiet. For all I know, the guy down there is probably a serial killer. Or that little girl down there, she probably stole that lollipop, in fact why is she out this late?

Whatever.. I sighed as I looked up to the sky. Old me would've never thought my life would turn to this. Having fucking nightmares all the time, barely sleeping. I either drink a ton of coffee or take a ton of sleeping pills and knock out. Physically, I'm stronger than before. Mentally, however, I can't say the same.

Suddenly, I heard a scream. It sounded like a kid. I rushed down to crime alley where the scream seemed like it was coming from. I looked down and saw that girl. A man grabbed her collar and was shaking her.

But then, black and white whizzed past my face, jumping down to the alley.

Domino. She stood there in her signature colours, staring holes into the man.

"Let. Her. Go." she said through gritted teeth.

"What's this? You tell your buddy Batman that I'm not scared of him.." The man lowered the girl down and shoved her to the floor.

"I said.." Domino stepped towards him and punched his temple. "Let her go!"

He fell to the ground but Domino didn't stop. She kept punching and punching, blood getting everywhere. The girl stood behind Domino, just holding a bag and her lollipop, clearly taken aback by the scene in front of her.

To be honest, I'd do the same thing. Hell, I'd kill him.

Domino took her gun out of her utility belt and pointed it at the man.

"Batman is not my buddy, you hear? Don't ever say that."

That's when I decided to step in.

I jumped down.

"Hey.." I said. She had her finger over the trigger, pulling it slightly.

"God, what do you want, hood?" She groaned.

"That's enough. We should get her home." I walked towards the girl who looked up at me. She was so small.

"No. He touched a kid, he deserves to die."

"If your gonna.." I covered the girls ears. "..kill him, at least do it when she's not here."

She sighed.

"Fine." She stood up and walked towards us. She knelt down to the girls face.

"Are you okay?" She asked the girl, with her hand on her shoulder. The girl nodded.

"Would you mind telling me where you live so I can take you home safely?" She asked.

"I don't think she'll be safe with you-"

"It's that house there.." She pointed upwards to one of the apartments. The girl began walking to a ladder and climbed it. Domino followed her without question. I might as well follow them to ensure that she gets home safe.

The girl climbed in through a window, me and Domino behind her. The room, which I assumed to be her room, was mediocre. It wasn't very clean or tidy. It was grim.

"Where's your mother?" Domino asked.

"She's sleeping." The girl put her bag down and walked out of the room. We followed her into the living room and my eyes widened at what was in front of me.

A woman was on the floor, puke around her. She looked lifeless. Her skin already going pale. Her eyes open but they weren't alive. Her body looked frail and weak, you could practically see her bones.

There were lines of cocaine on the table, so I assumed that she overdosed.

"Oh my God.." I heard Domino whisper.

The girl, however, didn't seem to know what happened to her mom. Like she said, she thought she was sleeping

The woman..she reminded me of Catherine. I'd never get over that sight, ever.

"Umm..Kid..where's your dad?" I asked, turning her face so she wouldn't see her dead mother.

"I dunno."

"We need to take her to the police." I said, knowing that they'd do something to help this kid. "Domino?"

I looked back at her and saw her with tears trickling down her face.

"Huh? Oh..yeah.." She sniffed.

Domino waited far away from the police station as she is seen as a criminal so I walked in with the little girls hand in mine.

"Gordon." I said.

He looked at me then at the girl.

"Please do whatever you can to help her. Her mom...overdosed. And I'm sure that she's not getting up any time soon."

"I see..Thank you, hood. I'll see what I can do." He took the young girl's hand and walked off.

With a sigh, I walked out of the station and grappled to a roof where Domino was. She sat there, head in her hands.

"What's up with you?" I asked sitting next to her.

"Nothing. Poor girl.." She sighed. "Seeing your mom like that on the floor...It hurts.."

"Yeah.."

"Anyways, this doesn't mean anything. Thank you for taking her to the cops." She said and she grappled away, her hair flowing in the wind.
