"So I met another guy," I told Jessica and Lana casually. I say it as if I'm trying to brush over the conversation.

"What?" They said in sync

"You just got out of the hospital, you move fast girl," Lana gasps, pushing my shoulder a little.

"Well here's the thing," I said while grabbing a handful of popcorn. "He was the guy who called 911. He actually comes to visit me twice.''

"Ok wow," Jessica says while flinging another piece of popcorn in her mouth.

"Babes, don't you think this is a little weird?" Lana said. "You were really upset about Jason. I just don't think you should fall head over heels for another guy. Just give it some time."

"I agree with Lana, I think it's nice this guy visited you and everything, but just slow down. I really don't want you to be sad again."

"What if he likes me too?" I question, are they really against a relationship with anyone else.

"Then that's great, but let time take it where it will take you. Fate is a beautiful creature who will guide you to beautiful places if you don't force its hand." Lana was always insightful, I loved her for it but hated when she went all insightful on my ass when all I wanted was support.

"What if this is fate trying to bring some happiness to my life? I mean she did get me hit by a car." I try to argue. I know she means well but her relentless persistence to diminish my happiness is frustrating.

"I am just saying take it slow, I mean Jason hurt you in a small time frame. To be fair to you, your feelings did not develop over a short period of time, but the relationship was not long. We were all devastated at how hurt you were. I don't want to see you hurt again, especially without time to heal."

"Ok; ok I get it," I said flopping onto my back. "Don't go all lovesick as I went with Jason. Message received." I looked to Lana as I pushed up on my elbows. "I just like the feeling of thinking someone likes me back."

"I know a girl," Lana says, looking over at me. "But it's not the most healthy thing to do."

Falling back into the pillows I just look at the ceiling, shoving popcorn into my mouth. The girls move topics to something stupid and I spend the rest of the night laughing.

...

I wake up to the sun filtering through the thin blinds. Lana and Jessica's light snores echoing through the silent room. Quietly I reached for my phone, looking to see if there were any texts.

"Good morning" I read from the too-bright screen. It's from Ethan. The blue bubble followed by another.

E: How are you today?

S: Just woke up, had a sleepover with my friends

E: Aww that's so fun, you know you should have invited me. I'm a little hurt.

S: :/

E: I'm kidding.

S: No. Anyway, what are you doing today?

E: Oh? Are you asking me out on a date?

What no, I type quickly. Lana's words echoed in my head, was I moving too fast? What was I thinking? I was on my way to meet him a few weeks ago when I was hit by a car. Also, it wasn't like that with him.

E: Want me to pick you up in my super sweet car and we can cruise around the city?

S: Or we could not...

E: Wow so harsh

What was I thinking? I should text the hospital boy now, he's super nice, has a motorcycle, and let's not forget super good-looking. Ya, I don't even know what Ethan looks like. What if he's super ugly? Why does that even matter? It's not like I want to date him. He's just a super nice guy who was there for me when I needed it.
