My head hurts so bad when I wake up in the morning. Probably from the extensive amount of crying I had done the night before. Still, I managed to get myself out of bed, groaning and stretching as I made my way to the bathroom. I take a glance into the mirror and cringe. My mascara was running down my face, my hair was all over the place, and my lipstick was smudged all over my cheek.

I mindlessly turn on the shower and step into the steaming water. Everything that happened the night before was swimming in my mind. Did Jason really do all that? Did he really slap me? Maybe he wasn't the guy I thought he was. I finish my shower, drying myself off. I look to my bed and notice a text on the screen. The text was from an unknown number and it simply said: "good morning".

From just a glance I knew who it was. It was mystery man from last night. How could I be so stupid to call the wrong number, and to actually continue to talk? I should have just hung up. It was just plain creepy. Why didn't he hang up? Why did we talk? With these question still circling in my mind, I formulated a text.

"Good morning" is all I could come up with for a reply, but I guess it will do. The response was almost instant.

"How are you?" it read.

"I'm fine I guess, still a little shocked," I tell him honestly. "Can I ask you something?" I follow up.

"Sure, shoot" he texts back.

"Why did you continue to talk to me?" I asked.

"Let's just say it comes with a long story," he says. "But I figured you needed someone to talk to, so why not some stranger you don't care about to hear your problems, you know?" he says.

"I guess," I say.

"Look I know it sounds creepy that I continued to talk to you, but you were obviously upset, and what if I hung up that phone and something bad happened? Then I was hearing about a dead girl on the news today? Idk why but I felt like I needed to continue to talk to you." he admits.

"I guess that makes sense," I text back, understanding where he was coming from and at ease a little more with the situation looking less creepy on his part. "Thanks by the way for everything, creepy or not," I continue. I truly was grateful for him. He really helped me through the night and for that I was grateful.

"Anytime," he texts back. Glancing at the text, I throw my phone back onto the bed and start to get ready for the day. As I was finishing my makeup, my dad appears at my door.

"You want to do something today, sweetheart? Just you and your old pops?" he asked stepping into my room. Grateful for the excuse to not see Jason, I happily accept his offer and start to make my way out the door.

My dad and I make our way into town for a nice breakfast and do a little shopping. then start to head back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. "Are you okay, sweetie?" my dad asks. I look over at him, shocked.

"Y-yeah!" I stutter out, unsure of what to say.

"Well I couldn't help but notice that you are a little down," he responds.

"You noticed?" I ask, surprised.

"Of course I noticed, sweetheart, you are my flesh and blood. Is it that boy? James... Josh... ahh... Jason? If it is him, I can give him a talking to. You know, if I do say so myself, I always thought something was fishy with that boy. I thought things were moving a little too fast for you." he tells me, not taking his eyes off the road ahead of him.

"Yeah it's him dad, but I don't want to get into it." My dad sighs as he pulls into the resort.

"How about some ice cream?" he asks me, and of course, my answer was "Yes!".
