We exit the restaurant and make our way to the beach. The crystal blue water call to me. Jason motions me to follow as we find two loungers under an umbrella that were unoccupied. We place our stuff down and I peel off my shots.
I bend to grab my sunscreens then turning to Jason, "Can you put this on my back?" I ask shyly. He grabs the bottle telling me he'd be happy too. I feel the cold substance on my open back, then feel his hands gently start to rub.
It felt so good, his hand discovering my back. They inched up my shoulders down. His hands sweeping under the bathing suit discovering the skin that lay behind the black band. His hands traveling down to the small of my back.
Although, just when I wanted to sink into his touch telling him not to stop I feel his breath tickle my neck as he whispers, "all done."
I feel his weight shift off the chair and I continue to put the sunscreen on my legs and face. I decide that I will let it set and lay back onto my chair, soaking in the sun hoping to brown my skin a little.
I hear shuffling beside me, "Oh I don't think so. The first thing we are doing in Hawaii is going in the ocean not tanning." Jason says. I feel two strong arms lift me up as he tosses me over his shoulder. He starts to run toward the ocean, me laughing all the way.
Yelling things at him as he suddenly drops me in the warm water. I burst through the small waves leaping at him, dragging his laughing body along with me into the ocean. We sit in the shawl water until we stop laughing. Finally, I get up and start running toward the deeper area, waving for him to follow. We swim in the deep, bouncing in the waves.
I lay on my back and start to float, closing my eyes and letting my body relax into the water. I suddenly feel water splashed on my face causing my body to fold, making me sink and fully submerging myself in water. I come back gasping for breath.
I hit water towards Jason, starting a full fledge water war. I run to the beach laughing as I crash into the sand, with his on top of me. I look into his eyes and we stay there a moment. I blush as he gets up, the warmth leaving my body. He shyly offers his hand which I accept and he pulls me up. Brushing the sand off myself I make my way to the chairs.
"Do you want anything to drink?" he asked.
"Ya, a virgin Pina colada would be nice," I say and see him walk to the beach bar. I lay on the chair, soaking in the sun closing my eyes.
"Here's you drink," he says handing me the cold plastic cup filled with slush. I take a sip telling him my thanks and laying back down. Jason and I soak in the sun for another hour.
Although, I must say Jason's already brown skin was tanning better than my pasty white skin. We see a group of teenagers around our age playing beach volleyball, "Go," I tell him pulling out my book, knowing he is longing to join them. "I know you like stuff like that," I say opening to my page I left off on.
"I will only go if you're going," he says. I look up at him above my sunglasses so I see the sun at its actual brightness. "What?" he asked innocently as if he wasn't a two-year-old trying to get me to play with him.
"Fine," I tell him dramatically as I put my book down.
"Really?" he questions jumping up. He runs to the people playing, asking them if we can join. The welcome us with open arms. Jason and I are placed on a team with another girl and to guys. We play five on five, our team winning, mostly because of the guys. Jason sending spikes across that were impossible to send back.
I wasn't into many sports, although when I did manage to hit the ball once and get it over the net I was a little excited. I instantly ran to Jason once the other team lost it, yelling at him asking if he saw that. I leaped on him wrapping my arms around his neck.
He chuckled as he wrapped his arms around my waist and spun me telling me he did, in fact, see it. He placed me down realizing the others were looking. I awkwardly went back to my spot again, never to receive the ball again. I saw the other girl on our team looking at Jason a lot and I wanted to slap her. I shouldn't be jealous, he's not even mine.
Though no matter how much I tell myself that, every time see her glancing at him I felt a pang in my stomach. After catching her looking again I wanted to go tell Jason to put a shirt on and her to back the hell off, though he wasn't mine. He would never be mine, and I had to live with that fact. So I kept playing as if I wasn't dying inside.
