Jason walked me to my room after the movie, promising me another date soon. Overjoyed with happiness, I ran into my room and flopped onto my bed. I fell asleep dreaming of my future date with Jason.
Today, due to my father's work, he was taking everyone to go zip lining over a part of the island. We all loaded onto large buses, everyone buzzing with excitement.
"So, are you excited?" my dad asked, flipping open his golf magazine.
"Yeah actually, I am. I can't wait." My dad and I talked longer, but after that, though he was dragged into his golf magazine again, leaving me to stare out the window. I feel a tap on my shoulder and looked behind me.
"Mr. Wolf, Sara," Jason addressed us.
"Why, Jason?" my father looked at him. "How are you doing? Enjoying the trip I hope."
"Yes, sir. I actually am," Jason replied kindly. "Sara, are you excited for the zip lining?" he asked me.
"Yeah, it is going to be amazing," I told him, turning around to fully face him.
He nodded hesitantly, a drop of sweat rolling off his brow, "Yeah, amazing." He said with an awkward laugh, scratching the back of his neck.
I looked to my dad who was back to being engrossed in his magazine, and whispering to Jason, "Jason Blackthorn, are you scared?"
"Umm no, well, I mean, yes." He said in shame. "It's just that..." I cut him off telling him that it was okay to be afraid. I continue to tell him that I will be there through the whole thing, which seemed to calm him a little.
The bus eventually pulled up on the side of a cliff, a wooden platform hanging steadily off the edge. Workers were running around trying to get people in lines and get their harnesses properly fastened. People started to fly down the zip line, screaming and laughing as they went across to the other platform.
Once on the other platform, they would be sent across back our way again. The whole round trip took ten minutes for each person. Two people could go beside each other causing the line to move a little faster. Jason stood beside me in line as we planned that we would go together at the same time.
After waiting for what seemed like an endless amount of time, we were the next ones to go.
"I-I don't think I can do this," Jason tells me.
"Don't worry, you will be fine," I reassured him. The zip line staff started to buckle Jason and I into the rope that will support us as we zoom across the vast expanse of the forest. I can see Jason was starting to get anxious and I grabbed his hand to try and steady him.
I looked at the staff member who buckled me in, he was giving me a silent nod that it was okay to go. Before anyone could tell Jason, I pulled his hand forcing him to look at me in the eyes, "Do you trust me?" I asked and he nodded. I proceeded to pull him closer to the edge of the wood.
When Jason started to pull his hand away from mine, shaking his head, I gripped his fingers tighter, "You said you trusted me. Jump!" I yelled at him, jumping off the platform dragging him with me like he did the day at the waterfall.
The startled scream from Jason soon turned into a victory cheer. I looked to him as he was looking at the trees underneath us, a smile prominent on his face. We soon reached the platform at the other end, swiftly being sent back to the way we came.
I screamed in triumph, shook all my limbs and burst into laughter. Jason caught my eye, sending me a smirk and striked a pose as we fly through the sky. As the platform came into view, I can see Jason out of the corner of my eye.
He was looking at me. His face taut as if he was contemplating something. We reached the platform and were unbuckled, the whole time I was laughing, adrenaline pumping through my veins. I started to walk, get off the platform and head towards the awaiting bus.
"That was amazing," I screamed, spinning in circles, arms loose, head tilted to the sky. I was stopped by someone grabbing my waist. I calmed down looking at Jason's face which was inches away from mine.
He leaned in further towards me and whispered "You are amazing!" and kissed me.
