Monday came along with all its dread. Becky and I handed in our English project praying to the gods that we get a good mark. I finished my lunch just in time for Jessica to drag me to math. We sit in our seats but when I made my daily glance to the row beside me, he wasn't there. Jason's friends were all in their usual spots with the seat in between them empty. I suddenly felt a wave a sadness though I was quickly distracted when the teacher came waltzing in announcing it was officially exam prep time and we only had 3 real math lessons left.

We all cheered and then groaned when she unearthed the review package she had for our studying. It was twenty pages, without room for answers. I knew not a lot of people were going to complete it though Jessica and I were. This was liquid gold, most teachers use the same questions just change the numbers, or some just keep the questions the exact same. We pass the pages around and start to flip through them. The teacher dismisses us and I dash to my last class.

As I walk home I get a quick text from my dad saying that we need sour cream at the store. So I change direction and start heading to the corner store closer to the school. Just my luck when I trip on the edge of the sidewalk a fall on my face.

"Are you ok?" the deep voice asked. It's a voice I know. It's Jasons! I look to my left and am meet with his chocolate eyes. He is crouched down offering his hand. I take it accepting help and can't help but feel amazing, my hand in his. He helps me stand and I brush myself off with one hand, my other still in his.

"Ya I'm ok, just tripped," I said already feeling my cheeks reddened from embarrassment.

"Are you sure?" he asked

"Ya," I reply looking at the ground.

"I didn't know you lived this way. I have never seen you walking this path before," he says curiously.

"Oh no, I live that way," I say pointing to my right. "My dad texted, I just need to go pick something up at the store up there." The store was about a five-minute walk from where we were.

"Oh ok, I'll walk you. Make sure you don't trip and stuff," he says scratching the back of his neck. We head down the street in the direction of the store. At this point, I drop my hand in the most discreet way so I don't make it awkward. They were starting to sweat. I was so nervous, Jason was here, beside me, because he wanted too. He wanted to walk me! My mind was going 1000 miles per hour.

"Soo," he says, putting his hands in his striped Adidas pants. "You going to do that math package?" he asked

"ya, Jessica and I will probably do it together. Though i will probably skip a few questions, it's not like she is going to check if we did it. It takes her a month to mark our quizzes let alone do a homework check.

"I know," he says pivoting to face me. "It's so annoying, all the other classes already got their tests back 2 weeks ago." we start having a steady conversation about our math teacher, then swiftly moving onto other topics. The conversation just flowed. I was so immersed into the conversation I didn't realize that we had made it to the store. I walked into the small convenient store and he followed still talking to me about his family. I don't know how we got on this conversation but I wasn't complaining. I picked up the sour cream and headed for the counter. I started to remove my backpack to get my wallet when a warm hand stopped me.

"I got it," he sad with a smirk. He handed the old lady his 5 dollar bill. She gave him his change and handed him a small bag with the sour cream inside.

"You didn't need to do that," I say blushing as he hands me the bag once we were outside the store.

"Don't worry about it babygirl," he says and walks the same way we had come from. My heart swelled when he said babygirl but I tried to mask my face so I wouldn't turn redder than I already was.

"So where do you live?" he asked continuing to walk down the street.

"I live 4 blocks from the school if you turn right at the front doors," I say

"ok, I'll walk you," he replies swiftly like it was a fact. I stopped shocked.

Words quickly rushed out of my mouth, "you don't need to do that. I know you live close to here, it's fine!"

"Don't worry, 10 extra minutes of walking won't kill me. Come on," he says already walking past me. I follow behind head down to hid my tomato face, wait, lobster face. Soon enough my face turns into a light pink and conversation starts to flow again. We keep walking, we passed the school and soon enough we reach my street. We walk all the way to my house and I stop on the driveway.

"Bye," I say looking at my feet, wiggling my toes in my sneakers a bit.

"See you tomorrow." He waved to me as I dashed to my front door.

"Wait," I yell. Where were you in math today?" I ask. If he wasn't there in math why was he walking home?

"I had a doctors appointment and came back for last period," he shouts back. "Why? Did you miss me?" He shouts. I blush and respond with

"See you tomorrow Jason" while closing the door blocking my view from him.
