We dance to the upbeat song playing. Swaying my hips and jumping onto my toes. After 2 songs the pace slows and all the people on the dance mold into couples. I turn around to go sit down when Jason grabs my arm.

"You did say you would dance with me." He says raising an eyebrow. I turn fully to him and he snakes an arm around my waist pulling me closer. I reluctantly place my arms on his shoulders as we start to sway to the music. As the song continues I start to get lost in his eyes, in my skin that is touching his, in his hands low on my waist.

The song ends and is replaced with another fast pace one. He grabs my hand dragging me off the dance floor telling me to follow, not that I had a choice. He leads me to the stairs that exit onto the beach and I know what he wants to do. I slide off my heels, taking my hand back from his, needing both to slid them off my sore feet. Carrying them in my hands I follow to Jason who is already halfway to the ocean. I run to catch him.

Feet sinking into the cold sand. At this point the moon was almost over us, meaning it was around 11. I run all the way to him and put my feet into the ocean. The cool water caressing my toes.

I can only see his shadow, the moon only lighting his profile, though I didn't need the light to know what he looked like I had memorized that already. I look up to the stars, they were more prominent than they ever would be in the city.

"Want to go for a walk?" He asks me.

"Sure" I respond. We make our way down the shoreline. The lights of the party fading into a little speck off into the distance.

"So how long are going to be here for?" He asks, sliding his hands into his khakis.

"2 weeks," I say, kicking some water as I take a step.

"Me too," he says excitedly. "So what are your plans while you are here?" He asks. I start to tell him about my plans of reading, which causes him to ask me what I am reading. The conversations sparks into a steady flow, a natural flow.

We turn around, going back to the party, still deep in conversation. I yawn causing Jason to look at me. "Are you tired?" He asks. I shrugged in response. "Let's head back to the hotel." He tells me heading to the path leading to the hotel, I realize once we reached the path that I had to either put my heels onto my already sore feet or go barefoot.

I decide barefoot making my way onto the path. I wince as I step onto a stray rock. My large flinch is noticed by Jason causing him to look at me then down, the to the shoes in my hand.

"Why are you barefoot? You are going to get hurt!" Before I could reply he picks me up bridal style and continues walking. "What are you doing?" I squeal trying to wiggle out of his arms.

"If your feet hurt so bad you can't put on your shoes then you shouldn't be walking." He says flatly.

"I can walk fine," I say still trying to work my way out of his solid grip.

"What if you step on something and get hurt? Can't have you hurt, now can I?" He asks sincerely. With that, I stop struggling.
