During the whole afternoon the common room was quiet. Ignoring the tense atmosphere, Adena enjoyed the calm as she started doing her homework. Before going to dinner, she caught up with Noah about their patrolling sessions for tonight.
"Hi, Noah," she said, sitting by his side where he was reading in a corner of the common room.
"Hi Adena!"
"Just wanted to tell you I won't be here to start the patrolling session tonight."
"Uh? Where will you be?" asked the boy, curious.
"Hm, I'll be in the library. Looking for books for my next Arithmancy essay." He just nodded.
It wasn't a totally a lie, she did have an essay due in two weeks. But that night, she would not exactly be in the library.
The others got down from their bedrooms, signaling it was time for dinner. Jacob was walking just behind Isaac, and he was still quiet. What a horrifying sight, thought Adena. His usual self may be annoying and over-energetic, but this side of him was completely scaring. Isaac gave them a nod in sign of negativity, saying it wasn't good yet. So, they all left in silence.
The atmosphere at the Ravenclaw table was as tense as the atmosphere of the common room. Barely any word could be heard among the students. This defeat was really a shock for all of them. Ravenclaw may be known as the house of knowledge, cleverness, and wisdom but that didn't mean they didn't have a competitive spirit, and it could be seen at the moment.
"Jacob, do you want my pudding? I'm not hungry anymore and I know you like that..." asked Millie, a bit hesitant.
"Thanks, but no," just muttered the boy, his eyes not leaving his half-eaten meal.
When it was time to leave, Adena told them she had to go the library. They nodded without questions as they took the direction of the Ravenclaw tower as she remained behind since the library was in the opposite direction. She instead went back to the Great Hall where she knew Regulus was still there. She watched him leave the room with some of his housemates and for a moment she froze, unsure of what to do until the group approached her.
"C'mon Winsten, the party probably started already," said Regulus and she nodded following after the group.
Adena quickly reached Regulus' side, ignoring the suspicious glances of the boys beside him that made her nervous.
"Who's that girlie, Black?" asked a lanky guy.
"Adena Winsten. A classmate," came Regulus' short response."Why is she there?" grunted another one.
"I invited her," said the fifth-year in a dull voice but glaring at the looking-hostile guy.
"Aren't you the one from Slug Club?" Evan Rosier suddenly said, looking at her.
"Yeah, it's me."
"You were more talkative last time," said the gingerhead boy with a snort.
A guy with a dark look, smirked at Adena and said, "We should introduce ourselves to the pretty girl. I'm Emmett Mulciber, seventh-year."
"And I'm Walter Avery, seventh-year as well."
"My name's Barty Crouch and I'm a fourth-year."
"And you know me, I'm a sixth-year like Rabastan Lestrange and Austin Wilkes," said now Evan Rosier, pointing to the ones at his sides.
Adena nodded at them with a polite smile. "Nice to meet you all."
She acted polite but she wasn't happy at all about that meeting. Not long after, the group arrived in the dungeons and soon in front of the Slytherin common room.
