Chapter 8: It all takes a glance

Eclipse, Siyeon, Bora, and Yubin’s band, was invited in a fashion show to perform as an intermission. They had many gigs like this. They had to compete with several bands and groups so they had to take all of the chances that they could get. Eclipse was already in the industry for 2 years. They had a loyal fanbase in Korea and internationally, though, they are more popular internationally. The group has been praised for their overflowing talents. Before they were scouted by their agency, they were just a group of friends who played for fun. They all met in highschool and found similarities in their music taste. Despite having different personalities, they blended well together because of the balance that all of them create. 

This is not their first time performing in a fashion show. When they were rookies, they would play in shows like this, just to get exposure. The fashion show is about the debut of new actors and actresses. It was suggested so that the show won’t have to hire new models and the newbies will get more known in the industry. Yubin doesn’t really take interest in these kinds of things. She’s just here to perform, that’s all.

The lights of the area dimmed, only the runway had bright lights flashing on it. Siyeon and Bora were bothering each other, as usual. Despite being in the show, Yubin wore her bluetooth earphones while listening to classical music. Yes, they were a rock band but Yubin liked classical music due to the influence of her father. She played the piano when she was young, and even competed in some competitions. 

The show started and as usual, Yubin found it boring. The only thing that she wants is to perform. She was never interested in fashion nor did she care about the newbies. The models started to come out one by one. Yubin just watched mindlessly, trying to show interest since she probably knows that there are paparazzi for them as well. 

A dark blue haired girl came out, wearing an off-shoulder light blue dress, with see-through sleeves extending from the girl’s biceps up to her wrists. Yubin sat up properly and watched the girl in awe. The girl strutted perfectly, effortlessly, everyone’s gaze was following the girl. She exuded confidence and grace in her walk. Yubin can’t help but open her mouth in amazement. The girl finished her walk, now walking back to the backstage to change clothes. Yubin’s gaze followed her until she could no longer see the girl. She only snapped out of her daze when she couldn’t see the woman anymore. She took a deep breath and cleared her throat. Siyeon asked her if she was okay, she said she was, just feeling a bit tired. 

The models walked out again, this time in different clothes. Yubin waited for the dark-blue haired girl again. When is she coming? As if the girl heard her wishes, she walked out again. This time, she was wearing a grey coat, with a white buttoned up shirt and a ribbon tied around her neck. She looked handsome. Yubin wondered how a woman can look both pretty and handsome at the same time. The girl even overpowered the men who were wearing suits as well. The woman made eye contact with Yubin and gave a small smile. Yubin swore that her heart tripled in beat, her eyes never leaving the girl. All the models went backstage for the last outfit. It was the band’s cue to give the intermission. Siyeon usually sings in their band. Knowing that the woman was watching, she asked Siyeon and Bora,

“Mind if we sing You&I today? I’ll sing.” Both girls were confused with the sudden request. Yubin rarely sings their songs. They both agreed with no questions asked. Siyeon and Bora know that Yubin sometimes has this sudden inkling with singing. They all stood on the stage. Yubin sat down behind the drums and adjusted the mic so she could sing while playing, Siyeon stood behind a mic stand with her guitar so she could assist Yubin, while Bora was assigned to play the bass (Bora usually plays either piano or bass, depending on the song. Bora and Siyeon alternate in instruments.)
