Chapter 14: Dad

Minji didn’t know. She should’ve known. They both had the same last names, they look alike, their smiles, and even the laugh that Minji adores are the same. Yoohyeon told her and her dad’s story multiple times. How she was hurt but she couldn’t help but miss him as well. Yoohyeon just stormed out of the room, trying to hold her tears back. Minji tried calling out for the girl but she didn’t look back. The actress didn’t know what to do. The CEO just sat down on a chair, tears already falling. Mr. Kim told Minji to follow Yoohyeon. Minji ran, finding Yoohyeon. She shouted her name yet there was no response. Minji went to the emergency staircase. She was panting hard but she had to find Yoohyeon. A soft sniffling was heard, a few steps below her. There she was. She slowly approached Yoohyeon, trying to not scare the girl. Softly, she sat down beside Yoohyeon. She didn’t know what to say so she just hugged the younger, not caring if her clothes get wet from all the tears. Minji felt so sorry. If only she didn’t agree for the CEO and Yoohyeon to meet….. If only they went home after that…..

“It’s not your fault, Minji.” As if the younger could hear her thoughts, she was surprised with what Yoohyeon just said.

“It’s not your fault. You didn’t know. I didn’t know. He didn’t know. We all have no idea. Sooner or later, I would’ve still met him.” Yoohyeon said, trying to complete her sentences.

“I- I don’t know what to feel, Minji. I’ve always wanted to see him. I-I’ve always wanted to ask questions. W-why? How? W-where was he when I needed him? I- I just- don’t know. Seeing him made me mad and angry but I have to admit that I wanted to see him.” Minji stroked Yoohyeon’s back.

“It’s okay. We’re all in shock but you’re probably more shocked than anyone right now. I’ll just be here, okay? It’s okay that you don’t feel anything. It’s okay that you feel awkward and weird. It’s all okay. I’m just going to stay here. I’m not going anywhere.” Yoohyeon cried more after hearing that. Minji just sat there with the doctor, stroking her back as comfort. Minji didn’t know what to say or do since she always had loving parents. Thankfully, Yoohyeon managed to calm down a bit. The actress just wanted to go home and cuddle Yoohyeon all night with her puffy and red eyes. She still looked cute for Minji. She shook away those thoughts and dried Yoohyeon’s tears. Minji didn’t know what to say so she waited until the younger one spoke.

“What do I do now, Minji? I’m so confused. And I don’t know how to think right now.” Minji sighed and held Yoohyeon’s hand.

“If you’re gonna ask me, why don’t you talk to him? Let him answer all your questions. Clear your confusion. All the questions that you had all these years, ask him all of it. I’m sure he wants to talk to you too. If you can’t today, we can wait until you’re ready, okay?” Yoohyeon nodded. 

“Let’s go home, pup. I’ll stay with you tonight.” Yoohyeon took Minji’s outstretched arm and stood up. Before they could walk, Yoohyeon stopped Minji.

“I- I want t-to talk to h-him. Today.” Minji smiled. Yoohyeon was probably scared, nervous, confused, and afraid right now. She gave a peck on the younger’s cheek and led her again to where they were earlier. Thankfully, there were fewer people. Minji let Yoohyeon wear her glasses that were in her bag so people can’t see her red, puffy eyes. Yoohyeon took a deep, shaky breath.

“Can you wait for me? I want to talk to him. Just the two of us.” Minji understood and let go of Yoohyeon’s hand. She knocked before entering. Minji saw that the CEO was on his chair, with his hands on his face, probably feeling the same as Yoohyeon. The doctor walked inside slowly. The door closed, with a waiting and curious Minji outside of the door.

It has been approximately 3 hours. Yoohyeon still hasn’t called her nor her CEO. Minji thought that they probably needed a lot of talking for the whole 20 years that they both missed. She was currently in the company’s cafeteria. She has seen a lot of people come and leave already. She was getting bored, not gonna lie. A few minutes later, her puppy with redder and puffier eyes entered the cafeteria. She hugged Minji, not caring if people were looking.
