Chapter 24: A special day for both

All of them accompanied Yubin’s mom in the hospital. Yoohyeon said that this might be the last monthly check-up if there are no more major risks that they’ll find in the check-up. Yoohyeon still has a patient so all of them had to wait. People were looking at them because who wouldn’t when a group of celebrities were there, waiting for Yoohyeon to finish. It kind of looked funny since they looked like a whole ass family.

A nurse called them in,

“Mrs. Lee?” Yubin’s mom stood up, followed by the other 5 ladies. When they entered the room, Yoohyeon almost laughed. They walked in like school students, in a single line. Inside the room, Gahyeon was also there. Yoohyeon greeted them and proceeded to check the scans of Yubin’s mom. Not gonna lie, Yoohyeon, Yubin, Yubin’s mom, and everyone in the room were nervous. Yoohyeon brought out a small smile and directed the monitor so they could look.

“Mrs. Lee, do you see this?” Yubin’s mother agreed as she started to follow where Yoohyeon’s pen was pointing. 

“That was your tumor before we removed it. Now,” Yoohyeon showed the next picture.

“This is it.” Yubin’s mom was confused.

“I don’t see anything?” Yoohyeon smiled,

“Exactly, Mrs. Lee. The tumor is smaller now. As long as you take your medicine on time, it won’t come back again. As long as you listen to my advice, you’ll be okay, Mrs. Lee. Congratulations.” They all cheered in the room, including Gahyeon and the nurse. Yoohyeon loves delivering news like this. She also is happy to deliver such news. Yubin’s mom reached over to grab Yoohyeon’s hands.

“Thank you, Dr. Kim. Thank you so much.” Yoohyeon smiled and placed her hand over the hands of Yubin’s mom.

“You’re welcome, Mrs. Lee. I’m happy to help. Although, visit me after 3 months so we can be sure. We’ll do this routine for the next 2 years so we’re really sure that you’re safe.” Yubin hugged her mom and cried in her arms. 

“You’re okay now, mom.” Everyone in the room was on the verge of crying. Handong hugged the both of them too, patting Yubin’s back to comfort her. Yoohyeon considers these moments as her treasures. No matter how tiring and demanding being a doctor is, the joy of delivering good news like this is what makes her proud. She looked at Minji for a moment and smiled. Minji mouthed ‘I’m proud of you’ and Yoohyeon smiled brighter. 

“As I said, Mrs. Lee, visit me in 3 months again. We’re just gonna do scans again and make sure you’re fine. Take your medicines on time, sleep on time, have frequent exercises, and take meals on time as well.” Yubin’s mom thanked Yoohyeon again before they were ushered to go outside. The next patient shocked all of them from her entrance.

“Dr. Kim!!!” A little girl ran into Yoohyeon’s arms. 

“Hello Jihan. Are you happy to see me?” Jihan nodded.

“Of course! But I’m a little scared, Dr. Kim. Will it hurt?” Yoohyeon formed a little smile.

“I’ll try to be as gentle as possible, okay? Just promise me you’ll be strong.” Yoohyeon brought out her pinky and Jihan did the same too. Yoohyeon glanced over Minji for a second and smiled before the door closed. At that moment, Minji thought that Yoohyeon looked good with kids. 

Even when they went on their dates, Yoohyeon looked at the children fondly. One time, a kid approached Yoohyeon while they were having their date at the park. Minji mindlessly asked,

“Would you like to have kids someday too, Yooh?” The younger, after taking a bite from her ice cream, said,

“If it’s with you, I would love to.” The both of them looked at each other at the same time.
