3RD PERSON:
A week after most of the school was back, the Dream Team was sat on a call, trying to speedrun.
"I've got to go, see you guys," Sapnap says, disconnecting.
"I'm gonna leave the world, wanna chat?" George asks.
"Sure," Dream responds.
After a few moments of silence George speaks up.
"Do you- do you ever feel like the soulmates system was wrong?"
"George? George, what?" Dream says, voice shaking uncertainly.
"No, no, that's not what I meant," He says unconvincingly.
"What- what did you mean?"
"I-" George sighs.
"No, nevermind, forget it,"
"No, no, go ahead. What did you mean?"
"No, it's-" He rubs his face. "I mean like, we're different. You're- you're outgoing, careless, you don't get attached, and then- then I'm just me, and, then-" He searches for words.
"Then?" Dream says, voice barely a whisper.
"We- it's- I mean-"
"No, no, no, no I don't wanna hear," Dream says, pushing back from his desk.
"Dream-"
"Nope, nope, nope. It's fine, it's fine, I'm sorry,"
He shakily moves the mouse and disconnects from the call.
He stares blankly at the screen, thoughts rushing through his head. Tears slowly drip down his face as he stays frozen for hours, mind buzzing.

GEORGE POV:
The group of us are sat under a tree, trying to stay out of the October heatwave. Bad looks around, and smiles slightly.
"This is first time we've all hung out for ages,"
"Probably. Everyone being sick and stuff," Sam shrugs.
"Yeah, how did pretty much all of us get sick?"
"Well, it's pretty obvious Dream and George fucked," Velvet shrugs. Out of the corner of my eye I see Dream freeze. He gets up and walks off silently.
I wince. "Not... the best timing,"
"What did you do George?" Sapnap says accusingly.
"Wha- why'd you think it was me?"
"You aren't the one who left,"
I grimace. Fair point.
"Should someone go see if he's ok?" Bad asks, looking after him.
"Leave him be. I reckon he'll tell someone when he feels like it," Sapnap shrugs. "He'll just clam up if we check on him now,"
I look at the ground. I screwed it up.

3RD PERSON:
Sapnap knocks on the door, and shifts on his feet.
"Hi, is Dream in?" He asks as the door opens.
"Yeah, in his room. He was in a bit of a mood when he came back, be careful," She warns.
He nods, and walks up the stairs.
"Dream?" He asks, knocking softly on his bedroom door.
"Dream? At least tell me to go away,"
"Fuck off," Dream mutters.
"Alright, coming in," He says, not moving.
In his room, Dream slowly gets up from the floor and unlocks his door. Sapnap hears the click and pushes it open.
"Hey,"
"Hi," Dream says, eyes red and voice scratchy.
"Wanna talk?" He offers.
"Not really. But I guess you wanna know what happened," He says defeatedly, dropping back down on the floor.
~~timeskip~~
The first thing he does when his bedroom door slams shut is call George.
"Fuck you," He says simply.
"Talk to Dream?" George says pathetically.
"Of course I did. Well. Fucking. Done," He snaps, seething.
On the recieving end of the phone, George winces.
"Look, I didn't mean it like that," He pleads.
"Really? Let me tell you a story. When we were 15, you got a girlfriend. Dream tried to be happy for you, and couldn't. You know why? Because he loved you so much it hurt him. When we turned 17, he swore to me he was over you. I believed him. He said "I don't want to get in the way of him being happy," He would have sacrificed everything for you. Fast forward a year, and I notice: he hasn't gotten over you. He's seemed so much happier these past few weeks, and now you go and do this,"
"Look, I- I messed up,"
"To say the least," Sapnap says, voice laced with venom.
George sighs. "I'll apologise?"
"George," He chuckles pityingly. "There's no coming back from that,"
