61: New Years

SAPNAP POV:

"Mom, I'm going to Alyssa's tonight," I say, walking into the living room.

"Oh. Anyone else gonna be there?" She says, looking up.

"Nope, just us. Her parent's will be out at a party too," I shrug. In the silence that follows, I risk a glance at her.
She's frowning intently, and staring off into space.

"Alright. Have a nice time,"

I bite back a smile. I rummage in the cupboards for a packet of biscuits and grab 2 out.

"Thanks Mom," I say, shoving one in my mouth and walking out. As soon as I'm out of sight, I punch the air in success. Of course, we're not staying at her house, but her parents will be out, no one will know. I grab my phone and start typing aggressively with one hand.

I shake my head and turn my phone off. Only a couple of hours till I'll go over to Alyssa's. Tonight will go well. Hopefully.

I open the front door and call a goodbye to my parents.

"You are just staying at Alyssa's, right?" My dad asks, appearing behind me.

"Yeah," I nod.

"Mkay," He says disbelievingly. "Have fun. And I won't tell your mom,"

I grin. "Thanks. Have a nice night,"

I walk out the house and around to Alyssa's house. I knock on the door and take a step back.

"Ah, hi Sapnap," Her dad says, letting me in.

"Hi," I respond.

"Sapnap! Come up to my room, we can chill there for a bit," Alyssa says as she appears at the top of the stairs.

"Alright," I say, starting to head up.

"When are you kids leaving?" Her dad asks.

Alyssa looks at me.

"Um, probably after my parents leave. Which will be soon," I shrug. "They think we're staying here,"

"Great. Alyssa, we're heading off now," He says.

She nods, and beckons for me to follow her into her room.

"God, I haven't been in here since we were like 13 and it was covered in rainbows and glitter and feathers. And there's like, no stuffed toys too," I laugh.

She chucks a pillow at me.

"If we didn't always meet at Dream or Callahan's house, you would've know,"

"Fair point. But it's nice here,"

It is. The walls are a bright white, one side has her bed pushed against it, and one has a floor to ceiling wardrobe. She has LEDs' around the length of it, and several posters and pictures stuck up.

I hear a car rev, and glance out the window. A blue car is pulling out her driveway.
