3RD PERSON:

Trying. Trying to go back to how it was. Before the fall.

Niki, trying to get back a sense of normal despite her parents marriage ending, her moving.

George, trying to avoid his dad, the looks he gets over the dinner table, trying to just look forward to that day his dad leaves.

Sapnap, trying to ignore his mum, trying to see his friends, and trying not to let his thoughts take over again.

Tommy, trying to ignore the feeling, despite how much he likes Ranboo, that little feeling he's losing Tubbo.

There's been a shift since September, and how can everyone not slip away from how it began?

Valentines day. Good for some, hell for others.

Take George and Dream. Despite all the complications, despite the arguements, despite the lows, they're looking forward to it. A date out in town, gifts, a fair bit of snogging, a good day.

For others like Techno, he's surrounded by lovey dovey crap and baby's with arrows that, honestly? Make him feel sick. Why is 1 (one!) day more celebrated than any others? Couples have anniversarys, why, for fucks sake, do they need Valetines
Day too?

Oh, and one more person is worth mentioning. Maybe you've guessed who she is by now. I'll give you a hint. Persistent, can't take a hint?

Yeah, it's Becky again. I dislike her as much as you do, no clue why she keeps coming back.

She really likes Valentine's Day. Oh, the chocolates she gets, the roses, the cards from admiring lovers, Dream hanging off her arm feeding her... then she wakes up. Sure she might get a few measly letters, but no one does actually like her. Not suprising.

"Georgie," Dream sings in greeting. The 2 of them are planning to go to a new shop in town, a record shop. "You know, I never thought you would be a record kind of person," He hums thoughtfully.

"Well, I wanted to get one for my mum, she loves ABBA, and has an old record player," George shrugs.

"Aw, sweet,"

They enter the shop, Dream holding the door open for George.

"Why, a true gentleman," He laughs, walking in. He heads to the counter as Dream just browses.

"Hi, how can I help?" A guy asks. He's wearing a leather jacket, which is fitting for the shop aesthetic.

"I was wondering if you had an ABBA record? Any would do, my mum loves all of their music," George responds.

"Ew, ABBA. Remus, love, where do we keep the ABBA?" Leather man calls into the back room. He has a posh London accent, George notices, but he has a similar accent.

The man George can only presume to be Remus walks out, and God, he's tall. Taller than Dream, even.

"Sorry about him, he's hated ABBA for years. No one knows why, but its over here. Do you happen to know what one your mum prefers?" He says. He has an accent too, a soft welsh one.

"No, she likes all of them. She does like Mamma Mia a lot though," George shrugs.

"Yeah, I'll take a Mamma Mia record up to the counter. Is that all or do you want something else?"

"That's all, thanks,"

They walk up to the counter, where Dream and the man in leather are having a heated discussion.

"No, I understand dogs are nice, but cats are far better," Dream argues.

"Good try, but can a cat protect you? Could a cat stand up to any animal? Dogs can stand up to wolves," He remarks.

"Sirius, for the love of Merlin, please stop engaging every customer in a dogs vs cats debate," Remus sighs, shoving him away from the till. "Right, that'll be 17 dollars," He says, as the other man, Sirius, hisses "dogs are better"

George pays, laughing. He takes the vinyl, and as he and Dream are walking out, he hears one of the shop owners saying "They remind me of us when we were younger,"

***

"Come back to mine," George suggests as they walk off the bus.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, my mum loves you," A pause. "I don't know what my dad thinks of you,"

"He's still here then?" Dream asks as they cross over the road.

"Unfortunately, yes he is,"

"How has he been since... you know?"

"I've been avoiding him, its been awkward,"

"Thats sucks. But I stand by what I said. Our friends are collecting homophobic parents like trading cards,"

At this George laughs.

Maybe he didn't need to try and get things back to how they were, just getting used to how they are now might just work.

"Mom, I'm going out," Sapnap calls. He pauses, waiting for a response.

"Oh, are you? You know, I thought you could've done something with Alyssa, for Valentine's Day? Would've been nicer than leaving such a nice girl alone on Valentine's," She smiles, sickly sweet.

"Are you being nice about me going out or is it just denial?" He says, opening the door.

The smile slips, replaced by a cold stare. "Get away from the door. You aren't going out,"

He steps out the door, and backs out onto the driveway. "Bye," Sapnap grins, turning away and letting his mother shout at him, but not follow him. Never following.

Just trying.
