DREAM POV:

I slump in my chair, glancing at my watch. Only 30 minutes left of visiting time. His parents will probably want to see him. I push myself out of the chair, and head towards the ward door, leaving George still comatose in the bed. As I reach for the door handle, a crackly voice stops me.

"Dream?"

I whip around.

"George?" I say, walking back over to his bedside. He's pushed himself up into a sitting position, and is looking around us, confused.

"Do you know what happened?" I asks cautiously.

"I think so? I was at the park, waiting for you, and this guy- he comes up to me, and then he does some weird thing with a cloth, and the last thing I remember was you calling him off,"

"Pretty much. You weren't responding, and I called and ambulance. After I called Sapnap," I laugh.

He smiles. "And I ended up in hospital?"

"Yeah. You were out 2 weeks. I was worried,"

"I'm- I'm so sorry," He says, suddenly serious.

"For what? This? This wasn't you fault," I say, confused.

"No. For the call,"

Ah. The call. Forgot we would have to deal with that.

"Forget it," I say, trying brush it off.

"No, please, let me say this. Dream, I have no clue why I said that, but I did, and it was shit,"

I raise my eyebrows and George rolls his eyes.

"Get over it. I messed up, and things got screwed because I wasn't thinking straight. I don't mean what I said, I swear I never did,"

I nod. "I probably overreacted though,"

He frowns. "Don't be stupid. To be honest, you probably under-reacted,"

I laugh. "I missed you,"

"I missed you too,"

We sit in silence for a bit, until I realise my eyes are watering. I wipe them hurriedly.

"Are you crying?" He teases.

"Shut up," I mumble. George reaches out and grabs my hand. He smiles at me, and that makes me start crying even more.

"Come here you goof," He smiles, pulling me in. I hug him tightly.

"I'm not letting go of you again," I choke out. "I can't risk losing you,"

~~timeskip~~

I take a deep breath as I roll up next to George's house. After I told the doctors he was up, I hadn't seen him since. And this was both of our first days back for 3 weeks. I step out of my car, and walk up to the front door. His mom answers, him undoubtedly asleep.

"Hi Dream," She smiles.

"Hi. Um, I've giving George a lift today? Not sure if he said anything but..." I trail off.

"I think he did, but probably best you do. He's gonna miss the bus at this rate,"

I raise an eyebrow. "Asleep?"

"You'd think 2 weeks was enough," She jokes. She steps back into the house slightly and calls up the stairs. "George, hurry up, your friend is here,"

After a beat he calls back down. "Hold on,"

"So, funny to think it's the end of November already," His mom attempts at small talk.

"Yup. But we got the winter break soon," I agree.

"Oh, you do," His mom seems to realise. "Your family doing anything nice?"

"Don't know. Normally we go and see family down south, but I might stay up here this time, and join later. Or bring friends," I say.

"Nice. The two of us don't normally do much, because his dad is always working. Even on Christmas," She remarks. At this point George comes running down the stairs, out of breath.

"Mom, where's my history textbook?" He pants.

"No clue, you left it somewhere,"

He rolls his eyes and steps out the door.

"Bye mom," He says, shutting it in her face.

The minute it's shut, I wrap my arms around him.

"I missed you," I say into his hair.

"I missed you too. Now, I get the feeling we might be late if we don't hurry up,"

"Shit," I say, heading towards the car. When we've both belted ourselves in, because safety, I drive off towards the school, trying to get there in time.

George and I sit down just as the teacher walks in.

"Just in time," I whisper to him.

"Dream, George, nice to see you boys again. I trust you're recovering well George?"

He nods awkwardly.

"And Dream: where were you?" They ask.

"Uh, I got really sick again, something was going around at my sister's school," I lie.

"Alright... Now, register- everyone, quiet," They call.

Once the register is done, and we start talking, George turns straight to me.

"You weren't at school?"

I wince. Luckily, the flood of questions from other people saved me.

"George, you alright?" Sapnap asks, leaning over me.

He nods.

"You guys have missed so much school, you're gonna have so much work over the holidays," Quackity remarks.

I groan. Shit.

~~timeskip~~

When we leave the classroom, Sapnap pulls me aside.

"You guys good now?"

I nod, smiling. "What about you and your mom, what's happening?"

"Uh- I'm, I'm coping with it,"

"Not very well," I hear Quackity mutter as he passes us. I don't think Sapnap heard.

"How well?" I say, curious about what Quackity said.

"Hey guys," Karl says, interrupting us. "We all have the same lesson first right?"

I nod absentmindedly.

Guess I need to do some digging.
