GEORGE POV:
I slump downstairs, in my pyjamas and a massive, creased hoodie I found on the floor. Probably one of the ones I stole from Dream. Who needs to buy over-sized hoodies when you can steal them from you boyfriend?
I open the kitchen door, hearing voices inside.
"Morning George," A familar voice says.
"Well hello Sleeping Beauty," My mum says at the same time.
"Morning," I respond, seeing both my parents at the table. Oh. Dad's back today?
"You flew in today?" I ask, sitting down in one of the empty seats.
"I did? Wait, where am I?" My dad jokes.
I fake a laugh. He's not that funny."So, how are you son?"
"Good I guess," I shrug. Small talk.
"School good? Friends all fine?"
"Yup,"
My mum makes a face at me and mouths full answers.
"Yeah, my friends are good mostly, Sapnap's had some issues with his mum, yeah, all good,"
"Cool, cool. Kath, we got any plans for tonight?" He responds.
"Not much- George weren't you going to see Dream?" She directs at me.
"Yeah? I don't have to?" I want to, but I'd planned it based on the fact my dad flew in tomorrow not today.
"No, do. Invite him to stay for dinner too,"
I can see what my mum's trying to hint at. Yeah, I'll invite him, but it took me months to tell my mum I was gay, there's no way I'm telling my father who I see every 2 or 3 months the first time I talk to him face to face.
"Ooh, that would be nice," My dad smiles. "And feel free to bring a girlfriend round," He says jokingly. Me and my mum don't laugh, just share a look.
"On that note, any development in the soulmate department?" He says, wiggling his eyebrows.
"Eh, a bit," I shrug nonchalantly.
"Great: any clue who it could be then?" He probes. Ugh, leave it.
"Possibly, I'm not sure though,"
"Anyway! Did I say I got promoted at work?"
"Yes Tom, you did," Mum says tiredly, "About 5 times,"
I snort. He always thinks about work. One of my earliest Christmas memories is him spending half the day working.

"Hey! What's up?" Dream answers on the 3rd ring.
"Wanna come round for dinner? My dad's home today and my mum thought it would be a good idea to have you round for dinner,"
"Sure, if it's ok with you?"
"Yeah, of course," I nod vigorously.
"Coolio," I can hear the grin in his voice.

3RD PERSON:
George opens the door and greets Dream with a hug.
"Have you told your dad yet? Or is he still fooled, as we all were for years," Dream queries.
"Nope," George says, popping the p, as he leads Dream into the kitchen.
"Dream. You've gotten taller. Considerably," Tom says, looking up at him.
"Probably," He shrugs.
"You boys wanna go upstairs or the lounge? I've still got to cook the food, it's up to you," Kath suggests.
"We'll go to my room?" George responds uncertainly.
"Sure, I'll call you down later," She smiles.
The 2 teenagers leave the room and head to George's room, where Dream immediately flops onto the bed.
"Your family is short," He comments.
"No, you're 6'3 Dream, that's above average," George defends.
"Yeah?" Dream says, sitting up.
"Yeah. And before you say it, I'm not short,"
"Mm?" Dream wraps his arms around George and pulls him back so they're both lying on their backs, side by side.
"Short," He whispers in George's ear.
"Leave me alone," He laughs back.
~~timeskip~~
The 4 of them were sat around the kitchen table, where the mess that usually covered half of it was no where to be seen. Small talk faded out to silence as the topic of conversation ran out.
"So. Any plans for tomorrow?" Tom attempts to break the silence.
"I'm going to go out with some friends," Kath smiles. "We haven't seen each other in a while,"
"Seeing friends too," Dream shrugs.
Silence falls again, and following the pattern, Tom id is the one breaking the silence.
"There are these 2 guys at my work," He begins casually, "And they're really weird. At one of our parties, they came as a couple-"
With this sentence, the other 3 instantly start to pay attention. Not noticeably, but the mood becomes tense enough to cut with a knife. A lot is riding on his next few words.
"- and they've been going around, telling people they're soulmate, which is an obvious lie, because everyone knows that 2 people of the same sex can't be soulmates," He contiues, waving his fork around nonchalantly. "It's unnatural, and inconsiderate. People have kids who come in, what will they think, having their kids around them?"
"I'm fairly certain that's you being homophobic Dad," George says, voice steady.
"Our group's collecting homophobic parents like trading cards," Dream mutters under his breath.
George snickers.
"No, I'm just saying it's gross that 2 guys think they're in love," Tom frowns.
"Well this is gonna be awkward," George grimaces.
"What?" His Dad asks, confused.
He's very out of the loop."Uh-" Well, now he's said it, he has 2 options. Play it off, or come out. Come out, risk the homophobia, or play it off and he keeps being a prick. "Well,"
He takes a deep breath.
"Dad, I'm gay,"Silence falls.
"Right, I'll start taking the plates away," Kath swoops in, getting up and taking some into the kitchen.
"I'll help?" Dream offers, getting up hastily. The 2 of them move rooms and the silence falls again, thicker and harsher. Somehow they've taken all the warmth from the room with them.
"George, can we have a hand? You've got the guest helping instead of you," His mum calls. He hurriedly gets up and walks into the kitchen, leaving his dad behind.
"You ok?" Dream asks, hugging George tightly.
"No, not really," He hums.
