Not one call. Not even a text. It isn't like Mina cares. She is glad to be left alone. That's all she wanted ever since she came to live here, but when the wish is finally granted the loneliness feels weird.
She knows from Boram that Nayeon is going to be back only in a month and a half. Her eyes caresses the wedding ring on her finger.
Theirs isn't a pretend marriage. Theirs is a drunk marriage. How much ever drunk Nayeon has been she still chose to ask Mina to marry her and for some god knows what reason she has said yes.
Atleast for that one moment they have found something in each other that the other liked which led to this disaster. As the legal wife doesn't she deserve to know about her wife's whereabouts? The rational part of her brain supplies helpfully that they are only married in the papers.
Mina likes Nayeon. Not the bitchy monstrous one. The gentle soft spoken one she has begun to see just before her departure. She has even hoped that they might become friends and then Nayeon pulls this douche move. Disappears without a word.
She is trapped in a marriage from hell, so why can't they both do something to make it better? Ten months won't seem like an eternity to finish if they become friends.
The landline phone rings. Romeo barks loudly standing by the phone.
"Coming mister. Why are you so impatient?"
She picks him up and looks at the screen. It says unknown number.
She picks up the phone as she tickles Romeo and says hello.
"Hi."
It is her.
"Hi."
"Alright?"
Is she asking her?
She doesn't know what to say.
"Mina?"
"Y-yeah why did you call?" She asks bluntly.
"I just wanted to remind you of Romeo's second vaccination. It's due this Thursday."
Of course. Why else will she call? She's been gone for two weeks and Mina thinks she is calling to see how she is doing when she's never done that before?
"Yeah. I'll take him."
"No, what I'm-"
The dial tone rings in her ears. She waits for another call for a few minutes and gives up soon. She wants to take Romeo for a walk in the garden. She loves to take him to the park but the paps lurking in every corner terrify her.
Ever since the picture of her, Nayeon and the puppy published in the magazines, paps have been stalking her relentlessly for pictures. She doesn't understand how she became this popular overnight. And she isn't happy about it.
"Let's go little guy. Time for you to go for that walk."
She lets him go off the leash as the garden is secured all sides and sits on the bench by the artificial stream. How is she going to get out on Thursday? Momo is gone on a business trip, Jeongyeon and Sana are busy with their startup business and she doesn't want to drag her parents into this media circus.
She takes a deep breath. She has to go alone.
She looks at her hands. It is shivering slightly from nervous anxiety.
Romeo barks at her and dives straight into the stream. She doesn't panic like the first time it happens. The little guy is a good swimmer.
Thursday.
