Chapter 14

Mina sits at the kitchen counter with a small smile playing on her lips.

"Yo, barbie is smiling y'all." Momo yells in an American accent making Mina giggle.

Nayeon who has just entered the kitchen observes how full of life the younger girl seems. A rush of relief clouds her chest.

"Shut up Momo-chan." Mina scolds playfully, smacking her arms.

Nayeon doesn't make any remark at the playful exchange as she takes seat opposite Mina. She knows the blonde loves it when her mouth remains shut.

"Got work today Nayeon-chan?"

She glances away from the carton of apple juice her eyes are now fixed on to look at Sana. Instead her eyes meet that of Mina's brown eyes and they both look away quickly, uncomfortably.

"Nayeon-chan?" Sana waits for her reply.

"Yeah." Nayeon answers distractedly as her mind supplies her with a random information about how liquid chocolate is brown in colour. "I've got four invites for an A lister's party. Do you want to go?"

"With you and Mina?" Sana questions excitedly.

"I'm not going." Nayeon bends down to tie her shoelace, still distracted. "I'll be tired after the shoot. You guys can go with Mina."

"That's fucking cool." Jeongyeon claps as she turns her attention to Mina. "You'll come right?"

Mina's eyes hovers on something else. It isn't what she thinks it is, is it? It can''t be right. Her mind must be playing tricks on her. Yet, the unmistakable pattern on the pendant and the glimmer tells her she is right.

'I-I..'

Nayeon who is in her own world is pulled out of her trance when she hears the Japanese girl stutter. She looks up at her and barely misses the girl looking away from her.

"Yes, I-I'll come." She stumbles on her words again earning an amused glance from Jeongyeon.

Nayeon notices how rosy the poor girl's cheeks has become. She is probably coming down with something.

"I can't believe we're going to a party to meet real celebrities." Momo squeals excitedly, hurting everyone's eardrums in the process.

"I'm right here and I'm very real. And I'm not at all offended by your comment." Nayeon jokes as she places her glass in the dishwasher. "See you later guys."

"Later." The three girls echo.

Nayeon kisses Romeo loudly on his nose and runs out the kitchen.

Mina's head is still spinning from the realisation that Nayeon is wearing the necklace she's thrown angrily in the bin last night.

"Did you forget something?" Sana asks as Nayeon walks back to the kitchen.

"Yeah. Just my sunglasses." She walks around looking aimlessly at the kitchen counter.

"Don't you usually leave it on the coffee table?" Joengyeon asks helpfully, "Besides it's dark outside. Why do you need your sunglasses?"

Mina notices a tinge of red covering the singer's cheeks.

"Thanks for your help Jeongyeon." Nayeon replies dryly as she strides away from the kitchen.

She hesitates by the door and looks at Mina who finds the courage to meet her gaze.

"See you later, Mina." And with those words, the older girl is off.

If Mina's head wasn't spinning before, it definitely is now.
