The feeling in the pit of her stomach grows exponentially when she sees the excitement in Nayeon's face disappear and gets replaced by something else she can't read.
"I'm sorry I can't do this anymore oppa."
Min kicks the curb and mutters a string of abuse under his breath when his foot meets the hard platform.
"Not again Mina. Don't you see, you're living a prisoned life here? I'm your only ticket to sanity when this is over."
Something twists painfully in her chest when he says the word over.
"I can't. I'm sorry. This feels wrong."
He assumes she is talking about their relationship.
Her eyes flutters shut as she tries to erase the image of Nayeon's expression when she's walked in on them.
If only she has the courage to talk to the older girl, she will tell her she only let Min get that far because she has been missing her terribly.
She only got the far with Min because she has wanted to crush the rapidly growing strange feeling in her gut ever since she heard the recording of Nayeon talk to her father.
She has needed a distraction. And Min has provided it.
If only she has the courage, she will tell Nayeon she was not thinking about Min when his hands were on her skin.
She has been thinking about Nayeon.
About how she is dreading the next month when their contract will eventually come to an end and how she'll have to adjust to a life without the eyes that reminded her of universe.
Her chest hurt. Her eyes moistens.
Nobody in the world can distract her from this pain. Not even Min.
When that realisation hits her, she has put her hands on his chest to stop him.
And Nayeon has walked in.
And the pain has intensified more than she could have imagined when she sees the light go out quietly in those eyes.
"Will it ever feel right Mina?"
It feels right. With Nayeon.
She feels blood rushing to her skin. Heat rises to her face as tears prickles her eyes.
God she is a sadist. Why else will she feel this way about a girl who has crushed her so many times?
What even is she feeling?
"She will destroy you Mina. Nayeon doesn't know how to feel."
He walks away, his words setting a storm in her already chaotic world.
Nayeon knows the younger girl is avoiding her. It infuriates her. She isn't the one who was shagging some guy in their house.
She is being irrational. She knows that.
Mina wasn't having sex, it definitely hasn't been some random guy, it's her ex fiancé for god's sake. And Mina's allowed to kiss him, have feelings for him, whatever. It shouldn't even bother her.
And this isn't their house. They will only be sharing the same roof for another seven weeks. And then they both are going to part ways.
She can't wait to finally have the house to herself. Because she is tired of pretending.
Sure, the house will be quieter without Mina and the little guy. She isn't going to take Romeo away from the blonde. Even she isn't that heartless.
Sure, she'll miss making breakfast which only the blonde seems to enjoy.
Sure, she'll miss the dinners and lunches Mina makes, sometimes packs for her. She'll have to resort to takeaways.
Sure, she'll miss seeing neatly organised labelled containers on her kitchen shelves.
Sure, she'll miss playing count the moles on her pretty face whenever she's bored and needs a distraction.
Sure, there are a lot of things that will change.
But she still can't wait to finally have the house to herself.
Romeo barks loudly when he hears a car arrive in the porch. Mina peeps to see what has gotten him so excited.
Nayeon is hitting golf balls in the backyard quite furiously.
An elderly lady gets off the car, walks towards Mina with a huge smile and takes her in a surprise hug.
"You really are beautiful love."
That accent and voice tells her that she is a relative of the angry girl in the backyard.
"Grandma?"
The said angry girl comes up behind them.
"Here's my favourite Im."
Mina's eyes soften when she sees Nayeon's face soften, her expression relaxing as she walks closer to her grandmother. Nayeon looks younger than her years. She looks like a child even.
And Mina's heart stutters a little when a dazzling smile splits Nayeon's gorgeous face.
"Grandma, you're here."
Nayeon runs to her, picking her up and spinning her around.
"Put me down love. You'll kill me."
They hug each other tightly and Mina thinks she hasn't seen Nayeon so carefree before.
It's adorable.
"How long will you be staying?"
"Only a week. Your dad would be upset if I stayed more."
Mina has never seen the older girl pout. She bites her lips to stop herself from smiling.
"Who cares about him? Please stay longer."
"Enough with the whining." The older woman chides playfully. "Let's go inside. I'm freezing."
She turns around taking Mina's hands in hers.
"Come on in love. Wouldn't want you freezing either. Although I'm sure Nayeon would be glad to warm her wife up."
"Grandma."
Nayeon whines.
Mina feels a colour rising to her cheeks. Are all Im's this intense? She wonders.
And she learns later that night that no Im dead or alive can hold a candle to a pissed off Nayeon.
