Chapter 8

Nayeon surprises herself by taking Mina's hand in hers tenderly, a touch she hasn't used with the blonde before.

Mina looks equally surprised at the gentle touch and assumes it's the guilt still playing up.

"You okay baby?" Nayeon asks as she dives through the hoard of paps to the vet, shielding her eyes from the blinding flashes.

"Yes." Mina's cheeks flush. She isn't used to these terms of endearments. Not from her. Even though they are fake, it's much better than the name calling. She holds the pup closer to her as she lets the older girl lead them to the vet.

"Nayeon-ssi. Your wife is still beautiful as hell."

"And he is still a creep." Nayeon mutters under her breath throwing the fakest smile possible at him.

Mina giggles.

Nayeon stops and turns around to look at Mina. She isn't imagining it. Is she? This girl has laughed. In her presence. It's bright, it's all gummy and pearly white teeth and the bright flashes around them suddenly seems to dim.

"You should laugh more. Looks good on you." It's out before she can stop.

"Thank you." Mina blushes and the cameras flash on her face as they continue their short walk from the parking lot to the vet.

"Finally." Mina says holding her heart to slow down the pace and looks around at the clinic. "Whoa. This is bigger than the flat I used to live in."

Nayeon chuckles at the innocence that is being displayed. This girl can't be a trickster. Will it be so bad if she gives her a chance to be her friend?

Her phone rings breaking her thoughts.

"Yes unnie?"

"Nayeon-ssi you need to hurry up here. The American organisers are in a bit of rush to start the tour. You'd probably be leaving sooner than we expected "

"Just how soon are we talking about?" Nayeon asks as she looks at Mina who is speaking to the vet and asking about the various diet plans excitedly.

"Three days is how much we can stall."

"Am I going to take her?"

"Who?"

She lowers her voice. "My wife."

"You mean your contract wife. No."

Of course she means contract wife. Why is Boram correcting her?

"Okay. How long am I going to be away?"

"A month and a half Nayeon-ssi. You can visit her in between if you want to."

"No, I don't." She immediately says in defence.

"I'm just saying. See you in a bit. Please hurry."

She hangs up the phone and sees Mina playing with another pup.

"How long is it going to take doctor?"

The good doctor takes a second away from poking the poor guy's teeth and smiles at her. "Fifteen mins Nayeon-ssi. Paperwork is being done. You need to bring him back another day to get the tracking chip installed. I'm going to give him his first injection today." She lifts the pup's ears to check behind it. "Have you named him yet?"

"Nope."

"I need the name to complete the papers."

"What do we name him?" She asks the unprepared blonde who looks like her eyes are about to bulge.
