Mina stares wide eyed at the wedding ring.
Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Her mind goes on a loop. What has she done? Has she married some random guy? But she has been with her friends. Has she gotten married to one of them?
As if to bring her the thoughts rattling around in her head to a screeching halt, she hears someone yawn right beside her and a chill runs down her spine.
This yawn, the scent of this person, it is not familiar.
She has had sex with a stranger? God this can't be true. She doesn't want this be true.
"Mmh."
It is a woman's voice. If she has to be precise, a girl's voice.
She can't bring herself to turn and look at the figure lying next to her. She looks down at her own body. Fully clothed, no love bites. She breathes a sigh of relief. So she hasn't slept with a stranger. Atleast there is one relief.
She is looking for a way to slip out of the door unnoticed when the door opens with a loud bang and four girls walk in unannounced.
"Nayeon!! Oh my god." One of the girls gasps.
Nayeon? Who the hell is Nayeon? Why does the name sound familiar and why do these girls look familiar too?
That's when the girl sleeping next to her rolls over to face her.
Mina nearly stops breathing.
She is laying in bed with Nayeon. The Im Nayeon.
This can't be true. It's got to be a nightmare. She tells herself. Or some sort of twisted game someone is playing. There is surely someone hiding in the room who is going to suddenly jump up and announce cheerfully that she has been pranked.
"What the fuck! Who are you?" The popstar spits out in shock.
"I'm your wife. Hello to you too." Mina answers sarcastically as the singer looks at her finger in complete horror.
"Oh no. This isn't happening." Nayeon whispers to herself as she stares at the rings on her finger and Mina's, back and forth.
"Nayeonnie, you're in deep shit." The girl, who Mina knows from following pop news from time to time as Chaeyoung, announces from the door.
Nayeon gapes at her, eyes wide.
"Sana." Mina half sobs her best mate's name as she finds her lying on the floor in the living room of the suite.
"Mina." Joengyeon wakes up, hearing the panic in her voice. "What happened? You okay?"
"What happened?' She pokes a finger in her knee. "I got married." Another poke.
"Mmh. Congrats?' Jeongyeon scratches her head, not able to make sense of anything she is hearing.
Sana stirs too. "Is Min oppa here?"
"No." She buries her face in her hand.
"Thank god." Jeongyeon relaxes a little. "I mean Mina and Min? Did you ever really think about how embarrassing it would be for your kids?"
Mina resists the urge to grab the glass of water on the coffee table and dump it on the taller girl's head.
"How did you get married? By the way, where are we? This doesn't look like our suite." Momo stretches from the kitchen counter.
"Yeah, because it's mine and I want you all to get the fuck out of here." Nayeon answers from the door.
Momo's face is priceless when her eyes lands on Nayeon. Even through all the emotional turmoil she is going through, Mina can't help but chuckle a little as Momo rolls over and falls off the counter.
"We've got a fly catcher Nayeonnie." Dahyun chuckles.
"Girls, let's go." Mina begs.
"You got married to her?" Understanding dawns on Jeongyeon's face after looking to and fro the identical rings on their fingers.
"Yes."
'You got married to Im Nayeon?"
"Yes Sana."
'THE Im Nayeon. The alcoholic singer that you can't stand?" Sana repeats.
"I'm right here." Nayeon snarls. "Besides I'm sure your friend is loving it. I mean who wouldn't wanna marry me?"
Mina glares at the older girl. "Don't flatter yourself. Trust me when I tell you I want to get out of this as much as you want to."
"Right, because that's my first instinct." Nayeon scoffs. "To trust a stranger." Her voice drips with sarcasm.
"Oh no, your first instinct is to marry a stranger." Mina retorts, as she helps Momo up.
Nayeon clenches her fingers tightly and tries to restrain the anger that is fast rising.
"Come on." Jihyo interferes before Nayeon can make things worse for all of them. "Let's all be adults about this situation. You both don't want to be married. It was a drunken mistake. We need to find a way to file for divorce before the press finds out and has a field day with it." She tries to to inject some sense into the situation.
"You married The Im Nayeon?" Momo finally finds her voice.
Mina looks at Momo and lets out another sigh.
"I'm really sorry Unnie. Book me in a rehab."
Her manager just continues to look at her silently, creeping her out in the process.
"Unn-" She begins weakly again, only to be cut off by a wave of her hand.
"I'm not going to book you in Nayeon-ssi. This is probably the only wise move of yours in the past three years."
The girls stare at Boram like she has lost her mind.
"The press already got pictures of the wedding. So we can't deny that. Think of it this way. You've been attacked for being a homophobe. Getting married to a girl might actually improve your image."
"It will destroy my career. How is coming out as gay gonna help me unnie? Don't be absurd."
"Right now you or the girls have no career Nayeon-ssi. Do you remember when your last number one was? Let me remind you. Three years ago. You haven't even made to top 10 in the past three years. Do you know how many times I had to practically beg the record label not to pull the plug on you girls?"
They wince in unison.
'This might be seen as a groundbreaking moment in k-pop history. It might take you closer to the LGBT community all over the world. You have to accept that they make more than half of the group's fanbase anyway."
Nayeon nods agreeing with her.
"Besides keeping you as the responsible married woman in the public eye will help vanish your image as an alcoholic."
"Ouch, thanks unnie." Nayeon flinches hearing the brutal truth. She knows she is one, but it hurts to hear that from the older woman who is the closest thing she has to family. Which is why she has flipped everytime she mentioned rehab.
"So you want me to be in a marriage with this girl I don't even know?"
"It's good for your image and the group's image Nayeon-ssi. What is the public going to think if you apply for divorce now? Everyone would know you were drunk out of your mind while getting married. You'll become the laughing stock Nayeon-ssi."
Nayeon releases a puff of breath. It's not like she can disagree with Boram. She has a point. She has already been arrested twice for drunken driving. This would only further confirm her as a raging alcoholic. Besides, she has to think about the girls. She can't drag them down with her. They shouldn't be crucified for her mistakes.
"Okay unnie. I'll do it." She agrees quietly.
