Mina should have expected it.
She has carefully avoided the singer the whole week after she came.
Every passing day takes her a little closer to the end of the contract. It's better like this. She doesn't want to get any closer to Nayeon than she already has.
She should have known that it is hard to avoid someone you're married to.
She can't avoid her forever, she reasons. They have a photoshoot scheduled together for next week. She might as well face the older girl now than having to do it before watchful eyes of the cameras.
Strengthening her resolve, she pushes the door open to Nayeon's bedroom.
She is glad Nayeon's in the bathroom when she enters. She is thankful for the time she gets to silence her thumping heart.
She quickly strips off the dress she is wearing and slips into another one of Nayeon's nightshirts. This one barely covers her thighs.
"Hello stranger."
Nayeon says in a mocking tone.
Mina jumps a little and puts a hand to her chest.
"You gave me a fright."
"That's unfortunate. I'm sure your oppa is willing to give you a few other things."
So Nayeon's actually going there.
Mina isn't ready for a fight. She can sense one coming.
She refuses to entertain the infuriated singer and wordlessly picks up her dress off the floor.
She walks to the bathroom, very aware of Nayeon's eyes on her.
"You're awfully quiet tonight." Nayeon continues. "Makes a difference from the night I walked in on you getting fucked."
Mina sighs.
She bends slightly to drop her clothes in the laundry bin. Her shirt rides up and she uses her hands to cover her arse to stop her flimsy underwear from showing.
She closes her eyes shut as she tries not to stoop to Nayeon's level.
When she opens them again and her eyes lands on Nayeon, the older girl isn't looking at her and her cheeks are slightly red.
"Min and I are over."
She doesn't know why she says that.
Nayeon scoffs.
"Really? From where I saw it definitely didn't look like that."
"Then look properly. And maybe you'll finally see."
Mina has never raised her voice at Nayeon before. But the clock is ticking, their days are numbered and her patience is wearing thin.
The blonde walks to the bed brushing past Nayeon. She feels fingers wrapping around her wrist. A hand grabs her waist softly, tugging her closer.
"See what?"
A slender finger lifts Mina's chin.
Dark eyes regards her carefully.
"See me. You've never seen me. Not as a person, let alone a wife."
Nayeon hears the whispered words.
She lets Mina release herself from her grasp.
But she doesn't have the courage to tell Mina she is wrong.
She is so so wrong.
Mina's eyes flutters open. It is still dark outside. The clock says it isn't even four yet.
Nayeon is breathing evenly, letting out a gentle sigh once in a while.
She lifts a hand to gently caress the singer's cheek. If she can capture this moment and keep it with her for the rest of her life, she is sure she will.
But six weeks.
That's all she has.
Mina turns around and moves away slightly from Nayeon needing to clear her mind.
Pretty soon she drifts off to sleep.
Nayeon wakes up feeling slightly cold. She scoots closer to the blonde in her sleep, her freezing hands finding shelter on the expanse of warm skin beneath the younger girl's nightshirt.
She feels Mina roll to her side and Nayeon pulls her into her front subconsciously. She feels soft hair tickling her chin and warm breath on her neck before she falls into another deep slumber.
Mina rises from her sleep feeling warm and flustered. Something tickles her skin, just under her ribs. Nayeon's fingers are stroking the skin above her stomach in her sleep.
Mina's shirt has slightly ridden up during the night and one of the older girl's leg is in between her bare thighs.
Nayeon is half on top of her, her face hidden in the crook of the her neck.
Mina wants to move her but Nayeon's deep breaths tell her she's fast asleep. She doesn't have the heart to wake her.
She catches Nayeon's hand which are tracing patterns under her shirt, and stills them. She isn't going to get any sleep if she is getting goosebumps every second.
When Nayeon's grandmother comes to set a breakfast tray on their bed, she finds Nayeon sleeping on her back, a protective arm around Mina's waist holding her securely to her side.
Mina's face is nestled on the youngest Im's chest and they sleep blissfully unaware of the older woman's presence.
Nayeon's grandmother lets them sleep because the moment looks too serene, perfect and domestic to intrude.
