Elena's POV:
"The mission," I take a deep breath and sigh. "Is really really dangerous. Anything can happen anytime. Your life is at stake. I understand and I will try my absolute best as a captain to protect you with my life."
We were in the living room, hurdled up together in a circle. It's normal for a leader to say a speech before leaving on a mission to cheer up the team.
"Don't worry. I am prepared," Jen says holding up one gun in each hand. I inwardly roll my eyes. She doesn't even know how to use that.
"Jennifer, we can't resort to weapons. We are gonna go into the battlefield without weapons. We don't have any defense," I add. Jennifer reluctantly places the guns down.
"Okay, I think that would be sufficient. Can we all leave?" Alex adds.
Ben, Liam, Jennifer and I
look like animals who are about to be hunted but Alex on the other hand seems so calm. And I really hate it.
"I just wanna end by saying, no matter what happens, even if there is a fatality, you will always be remembered," I add sincerely.
"We won't let anything happen to you too," Ben adds tearfully before turning towards Liam, "let's abort run-as-fast-as-you-can mission Liam. We have to stay with Elena. We can't abandon her or the team."
"You were about to run away?!" Jen questions, turning towards Liam with a glare. Liam panics as he quickly shakes his head.
"I don't know what he's talking about."
"If you're all done being dramatic, can we leave?" Alex asks again as he looks at his wrist watch for tenth time. I sigh and grab hold of my bag. I admit, I have never been so scared of a mission ever in my life. Taking care of kids can, indeed, be handful.
Just as we were loading our bags, I noticed Ben has an awful amount of baggage with him. I doubt if all those bags can even fit in the trunk. He was also holding that hideous bear in his hand.
"Do you need all of them?"
"Yes. Basic necessities for a human being," he shrugs. I shake my head.
I notice the sun's coming up. The wind slowly brushes past me. I take a handful of my hair and tuck it behind my ear. That's when I notice I forgot my bracelet.
"I just need to grab something real quick," I say and try to walk away. Jen stops me.
"Elena, grab my tasers as well, will you please?"
"Why?"
"Just grab them, for emergency," she says. I shake my head and quickly head up to my room.
I smile and grab hold of my bracelet and clasp it around my wrist. I quickly make a run to Jennifer's room. I open the door and walk in to see an organised bedroom.
Everything is clean as it's meant to be. I search for her tasers, which I don't know why I am even grabbing it in the first place. I look around the room to find other tech devices but no tasers. Where did she keep it?
I walk towards a drawer and pull it open. I sigh when I see the tasers. Just when I was about to grab it, my eyes shift to something else.
A velvet ring box.
I definitely don't want to be a creepy person checking others stuff so I shut the drawer quickly. The picture of the box clicks my brain again. Strange. I never knew Jen wore jewelry ever in her life.
I have a theory. I don't know if I am right. Not that I want to interfere in Jen's personal life but testing out a theory won't hurt anyone.
I quickly walk out of the agency to see both of our cars lined up. Liam and Jennifer are already buckling in. I walk towards the window and knock twice. Jen rolls down the window.
