Alex's POV:

It felt good. One small second of watching fear flick through Meghan's eyes made me unnaturally content with my actions. I know, no matter what, I can't push myself to actually shoot her in person. That's too much to expect from myself. But watching her shocked expression, like the way I was when she betrayed me, made me monetarily satisfied.

I place my gun back on the holster and turn towards Elena. She looked at me, a small grin plastered on her face.

"Well done, you."

I nod my head. "I should have waited. She was about to tell her location."

"If we had waited, they would have found us. There won't be a way out of this ship," She said. I contemplate her words. I know Meghan will be more conscious about her plans and locations. We are smart but what if she outsmarts us? What if we get caught in her web?

The commotion outside pulls me out of my train of thoughts. My eyes narrow on the door before looking back at Elena. She looks slightly shaken up after the injury. To be honest, the cut was deep. I lied to her, so she doesn't have to worry. Though injury is the last thing she usually worries about.

"We used up our escape route," I say as I run my hand through my hair to think of another escape route.

"We have to check the other side of the ship as well. We might find drugs there. We have to burn it down," She said, trying to keep her voice from reducing an octave.

"Not we, I. I will burn it down," I say. She looks up at me, already ready to oppose the idea, but I continue speaking. "I will do it, Elena. Stay on the east side. I'll grab the jet ski and get here. Okay?"

She starts shaking her head but I stay firm. "Please, you have taken enough hit already," I whisper, eyeing her injured shoulder.

"I thought I was the leader."

"And I thought we are friends."

She shakes her head, still clutching onto her shoulder, walks out of the door to check the pathway. When it's clear, she nods. I quickly stride forward and rush to the main deck.

The ship was on fire. Half of the ropes were burned and unknotted. People were moving around in agitation. The King's son was screaming commands. In such commotion, it was more than easy to slip off towards the other deck. I quickly rush towards the rooms and check all of them. None of them had the drugs.

I take the staircase. My thudding footsteps echoed as I rushed down. I look around to see many bags of drugs stacked against the wall. I grab the lighter from my bag. The only source of light was the glow I held in front of my face.

Packs and packs of drugs. Millions of lives on the line. High risk. Fatality. That's what dark dragons deal with. A position of power built on the ruins of others. Who knew, the one who tormented me long back is trying to torment the world now?

Too bad. The Alex they had known died. Long back. A time comes when the victim becomes a rebel. Defenseless becomes powerful. Vulnerable turns vengeful.

Alex Carter turned into an Agent.

With clenched teeth, I flick the lighter. Like a wild forest fire, the fire speeds up, igniting everything on its path. The hissing and crackling sound reaches my ears. My pupils radiate the same fire I am looking at.
