Shyness was never a part of Ben's demeanour. Neither was nervousness. But at the moment, when he sat next to his wife driving his car to his home to begin a new journey, he felt both.
Gwen kept talking about her plans for the future which mostly included shopping, food and weapons. Ben, surprisingly, stayed quiet listening to his beautiful new wife.
Alex once told Ben that the world blurs out and the person you love stands out. Ben asked him to meet a psychiatrist for making a joke like such. But now, he couldn't agree more. The world did blur and made Gwen stand out for him.
He nodded to what Gwen said as he took glances now and then. Gwen stopped mid-sentence forcing Ben to take a glance and raise his eyebrows.
"Are you even listening to me, my dearest husband who would take a bullet for me?"
"Am I? I don't think so. I am quite upset with you, my human shield."
"Now what did I do?" Gwen questioned as she turned her body giving him her full attention.
"Gwendy, you made me promise to do our laundry in front of everyone. That wasn't our plan, was it?"
"I know. But it was hilarious. Now that you made a vow, you can't back out."
Ben chuckled, shaking his head. How did he end up here?
"That can be re-evaluated," He took a glance at Gwen before he swiftly turned the wheel. He was closer to their home. Gwen hasn't seen the house that Ben bought a few months before his wedding. It was meant to be a surprise.
"Close your eyes," He said. Gwen raised her eyebrows.
"Why? Have you kidnapped me?"
"Yeah. Before you get to see the dungeon that I built, close your eyes."
"You and your sweet words," She spoke and closed her eyes.
Pulling up in the driveway, he parked the car right in front of his massive house. He took off his seatbelt and reached over to unbuckle Gwen's seatbelt. Stepping out of the car, he quickly ran to the other side to open the door for his wife.
A gentlemen's etiquette which Alex imposed on acquiring.
"I am going to open my eyes now."
"Not yet, wait," Ben said as he helped Gwen out of the car. They both stood in front of his cosy beautiful house but Ben's eyes were trained on Gwen.
"You can open your eyes now."
Ben took in all her reactions. Her lashes separated at a feathery speed. Then her eyes widened in absolute shock. Her lips separate in awe. The reality finally struck Gwen. She's gonna live here. Forever. A new start. With her husband. Saying husband in her mind still feels unreal. She really is married. Married to Benjamin. The boyish man, a kid at heart, a foolish mastermind.
Her foolish mastermind.
Her eyes softened as she looked back at Ben. His gaze was already on her.
"Not too bad of a dungeon," Gwen smiled childishly. "Is it under my name?"
At this amusing question, Ben laughed. "It is under our name."
Gwen giggled as turned once again to gaze at her home. She was so excited to start her life with Ben. To grow with him. She was almost bouncing on her feet.
"What are we waiting for? Come on, let's go inside," She said and started walking towards the doors.
Before she could take her third step, someone grabbed her hand and tugged her. She spun back and collided against him. They locked their gaze at each other. Gwen blinked in nervousness while Ben on the other hand had a boyish smile.
