Elena's POV:
It's been two days since the whole ordeal of Alex being sick. He didn't come back to the agency in two days. But his father told me he was doing better. I called him yesterday to which he said he would come back to work today. But he's yet to arrive.
"Hey, dad's calling us to the conference room," Ben stood by the door as he informed me. Half of his body was hidden behind the door as he spoke to me. The cast he wore wasn't there on his head anymore.
"The whole team?" I asked as I walk out of the room, racing down the stairs as Ben followed me behind.
"Yeah. He said something about finding out about who's behind the threats," Ben said happily. I try to keep my face neutral as I try to contain my smile. Finally, about time...
I quickly skip down the stairs and speed-walk towards the door. I knew dad would find something or the other about the one behind the threats. I should have told him sooner.
"You two, come on, we have a conference to attend," Ben declared to Liam and Jen. That's when I realize they will get to know about the threats as well. I shrug it off. Half of my team know about it already. It's better if they're not kept in dark.
"If Chief wants us to go babysit another set of kids, I swear, I won't hesitate to-"
"No, it doesn't seem so," Ben interrupted. Jen lets out a sigh and walks with me towards the conference room. We reach our destination and open the door. I notice chief was on call. He walked back and forth as he talked on his phone. I settle down on the chair, waiting for dad to complete his talk.
"Why is he sounding so angry?" Jen asked me, her eyes focused on my dad. I shrug my shoulders.
"I have no idea."
Ben was rhythmically tapping his fingers on the table, producing an awful music. He seems casual and nonchalant. He even bobs his head to his self produced sounds. But when you take a closer look at his eyes, you realize he's listening to what dad's speaking on the phone.
Antonio was not wrong when he said Ben's a genius.
I turn around to see Liam show something to Jen. They both watch the video, as they giggle to themselves.
I shake my head at the engaged couple as I turn my eyes to the empty chair. The happy goody two shoes with a constant smiling boy was missing.
"Hey, did you see this?" Jen asked, as she shows me a video in Liam's phone. Presumably the same video which they were laughing at.
I narrow my eyes when I see Ben being pushed back by someone. I immediately glare at that lean figure who dared to push my brother.
"What's going on here?" I ask. I hear Alex's voice as he steps into the frame. Who are they fighting with?
"Ben smashed the car with an FBI agent," Jen murmured. I nod my head as I kept watching Alex talk politely with hot-headed teen.
I see the FBI flash his batch on Alex's face, proudly announcing that he works for the FBI. I control my smile when Alex showed off his own batch to him, robbing his speech, leaving him awestruck.
Good, put that teen back in his place.
In the end, Liam, who was behind the camera, zoomed the camera on everyone's face. Each had their own expression which was comical. The FBI agent was fuming, Ben showed a peace symbol and Alex rolled his eyes away from the camera.
I hear the car door open and the camera shakes as Liam sat inside. I guess Liam was practically leaning out through the window to capture Alex talking with that agent.
