Elena's POV:

Have you ever been in a situation when something in your heart tugs and you know something really bad is gonna happen? That's what I feel right now as I had my phone against my ear waiting for Alex to pick up the call.

My anxiety intensifies when his call goes to voicemail again. Did that mysterious-creep get to him? Or kidnap him? Or ambush him?

What am I thinking? He is an agent. He can definitely defend himself. But what if a bunch of them attacked him? Then dragged or drugged him?

Okay, I really need to stop with the negative thoughts. It's most certainly not helping. I run my hand through my hair in frustration and dial Ben's number.

I feel someone place thier hand on my shoulder and I turn around. Jen looks how uncharacteristically panicked I am and furrows her brows.

"What's wrong?" Her voice has gone low, like she is talking to a child. I shake my head and clear my throat.

"Nothing. I was... I was trying to contact Alex but he isn't picking up. I forgot to tell him to get roller skates."

She chuckles. "Is that what you're worried about? He might have muted his phone. Let me call Liam," She says and fetches her phone from her pocket.

Before she could call Liam, my phones starts to chime. I look at the screen to see Alex's name flash on it. I let out a sigh and pick up the phone.

"Alex?"

"Elena?"

"Are you alright?" We both ask at the same time. My forehead creases in confusion.

"I am fine. Why would you ask?"

"I saw your calls and I thought- never mind but I can't come back home right now."

"What? Why?"

He doesn't answer my question immediately. I hear him speak to someone else saying them, 'yes, stitch him up.' Stitch who? What's happening?

"Alex? Is everything alright?"

He doesn't say anything for a few seconds. Then I hear him sigh. "We got ambushed."

"What?"

"Ben's a bit injured in his head. We are at agency's private hospital. He got a few stitches. He's fine though."

"I'll be there." I said hastily. I should have decoded the message soon. They were there to get Alex and Ben got caught in the crossfire.

"No, you don't have to," he insisted. "We will be driving back. I'll see you in thirty minutes."

I sigh. "Okay," With that I cut the call. I turn around and walk back and let Jen and Gwen know about the incident which Alex told me about.

We wait for a while, the heel of my foot keeps tapping out of fret. After thirty minutes, which felt like an eternity, I hear the car pull up.

I quickly get up from my place and rush to the door. I watch Ben and Liam walking out of the car towards us. Ben's head is bandaged up. Liam seems fine. My eyes narrow when I don't see Alex anywhere. Did he not return?

Gwen was the first to reach them since she was already waiting for them to arrive in front porch. Ben sleepily waves his hand at us.

"CAN YOU HEAR ME? ARE YOUR EARS WORKING FINE?!" Gwen yells at Ben. He immediately grimaces and holds his head.

"He has gone deaf! He isn't saying anything!" she panics as she turns towards me. I roll my eyes.

"He's hit on his head. It has nothing to do with ears." I explain.
